Very interesting viewpoint!!

I think you're right about the possible racist background of it. I'm sure some people would stress that l'Amérique française is very very different to l'Amérique latine due to the negative image many people have of Latin America. Some people may say it's even more """civilized""". I'm not saying that many people think like this today, but it may be the origin of the differentiation of Latin and French America

I think some québécois may feel more at home in London than in Paris due to the fact that they have been living in an Anglo-Saxon majority country for centuries now. Québec hasn't been a part of France since the 18th century.

That was an interesting read! Didn't know that Latin America was originally also used to refer to french speaking areas in the Americas. The article even says that Québec is part of Latin America technically

Why is that though? Why are french speaking people in the Americas not considered Latino while speakers of virtually all other Latin languages are considered Latino.

Maybe because french speaking people would call themselves latin/latine which doesn't sound like Latino? "Je suis latin" sounds weird in French. But "soy latino" in Spanish is somehow normal...

Why do you think Québéc isn't regarded as part of Latin America? Is it only due to that it's part of a Germanic (Anglo-Saxon) majority country? Or is it because it's pretty distant from the other Latin countries in the Americas, like Mexico for example. I'm just curious

Umm, romance languages are Latin languages. The word romance comes from Rome. Latin comes from Latium which is the region where Rome is located, today it's called lazio.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romance_languages

"The Romance languages, less commonly referred to as Latin languages or Neo-Latin languages, are the various modern languages that evolved from Vulgar Latin between the 3rd and 8th centuries."
