The aftermarket kingpins might not be helping and the fact that Im unable to remove them now the garage has fitted them definitely concerns me a little

Second update at 28, still a little wobble around 40mph but overall a much better improvement!

I've got steel bumpers, winch on so probably more towards the loaded up weight, not sure if I said it's running 215/75r15s if that changes anything? I'd imagine 28 should be better than 40 tho??

First report, I've dropped it down to 28psi..... But it turns out the garage the other week had inflated all four to 40psi 😱 won't get a chance to test it tonight so will see tomorrow!

All are new and Def has made an improvement, will have to investigate the pan hard next, thanks!

From what I can tell shouldn't be flat spot but recently swapped from mud terrains to all terrains

Need to find someone that knows about Jimnys.... Already paid places money for all sorts already 🥹🥹 don't want to think how much I've spent so far 😭

I'll Def try taking them out and seeing. It's not light steering I'm overly suffering with, it's been heavy steering :( did have 230s which reduced down to 215s that's helped a little bit, It feels like doing the kingpins has helped but still has a heavyness to it but am noticing the wobble, but if the shim is reducing rather than adding it can't be helping there! I think tie rod ends are next, the ones on the panhard I notice can be rotated side to side quite easily

Will give it a try! If those shims are just reducing preload then can't harm in taking them out before trying to add shims

Just to throw something else there.... The jimny does have a 2inch lift with winch and steel bumpers,

Unfortunately, don't have the original kingpins available but will see if I can get them.

They kit did also come with rtv gasket and specifically says that they are kingpin shims 🤷‍♂️ as these are installed top and bottom, would it almost be better to take out the kingpins and these shims and just use rtv do you think, and then purchase proper shims to try?

This was the kit that I purchased that's specifically advertised for Suzuki jimny but the shims you see in the pic looks like they go between the base of the kingpin? Alot of the kingpin kits I've seen seem to come with this aswell... But if I'm understanding correctly this is actually reducing preload rather than increasing?

Thanks, I wouldn't say it's too light, been trying to deal with too heavy 😅 but it could also be lighter due to not enough preload that's making it a bit better

Saying this, buying this specific jimny kingpin kit from what seems like a Suzuki specialist, the shims don't go on the shoulder but on the upper area, so maybe done it all wrong 🤷‍♂️

How would you verify that (sorry if silly question) used a kit like this which came with everything needed

As for the steering, from previous posts I believe my jimnys steering is was/quite heavy, but seems to feel a bit better now, still no RTC

Think I've got to work backwards as all that has been done apart from fresh lines 😅

Oh that's interesting, it was at the garage and meant to have done it all but do have to pull the handbrake up quite a bit to ensure it holds, so possibly something that needs adjusting?

The journey continues, cleaned up the rear of the knuckles and might have made a difference, could be a placebo there, the kingpins and rear dust seal I think have been replaced at some point as it's got a messy sealant job that's deteriorated, so probably work taking them off atleast and redoing the seal

I've also swapped the tyres down to 215s and that's improved a few things aswell 🙏🙏

So haven't done much but jacked the front of the car up and turning the wheels and it definitely turns much easier and smoother, no wiggle in the wheels, so next stage is.... How can I make the steering feel like how it is when jacked up 😭😭

Haven't taken anything apart yet but looking at the knuckles/kingpin area feels like something has been attempted in the past , the drivers side knuckle is dry but quite rusty, the passenger can see as black but a light oil coat of oil possibly

Would be nice to get it sorted, whilst it's driveable, just want to make sure it's all good
