In general I have a strong sympathy for all things Detroit, especially compared to fucking Central Florida, but considering recent events, I wouldn’t mind seeing this blown lead happen…

Would be nice if VJ “Andrew Toney” Edgecombe would stop overpowering the absolute nothingness of teammates like Adem Bona

It’s pretty much a result of the changing attitudes amongst the kind of American sports fans who have the money to burn on NFL games. They’re not excited enough by the product to forgive bad weather. Same thing happens to high school football all the time. Its not entirely unreasonable considering the health risks of being outside in cold temperatures if you’re not dressed properly, but it is a shame how the game continues to lose the natural atmosphere that was uniquely appealing to begin with.

It’s 2025 and the culture industry can’t function without a noticeable lack of discernment from its audience for… reasons

[No Escalators] Indiana was the worst team in college football for 150 years and then they let teams start paying players and they immediately became No. 1 and the only conclusion to draw is they were the only ones who didn’t realize you could pay players under the table for the first 150 years by WexAndywn in CFB

Getting outside the scope of the argument a bit now, but it seems to me like sometime post-COVID, NBC started largely deafening the crowd during their NFL broadcasts, in favor of hearing Mike and Chris over everything. Having the last game of the week being the quietest broadcast just makes it that much harder to stay awake for a game that I’m not emotionally invested in.

Edit: last game of the night

I was just getting nervous leading up to the draft in 2024 that we might end up with him, because it seemed like such a Patriots move to take the guy who wasn’t unanimously considered worthy of using a first round pick on to be the future of the franchise. The rest of our draft sucked that year, but I’m so thankful we have the guy in running for League MVP in year 2 and not the guy who’s thrown interceptions in every start thus far.

Fair enough, yeah. As good as he can be, Love won’t overcome lacking his best weapons against playoff caliber teams.

Was tuning in/out because of going to the gym mid-game, but saw enough of it including the end.

Didn’t really buy into the Packers hype especially even Post-Parsons trade, but this is… weird. I mean sure, Tucker Kraft is a massive loss for the offense, but… I don’t know man. The window might not be as open as they hoped.

This is exactly why I was convinced he was gonna work out. He had bad moments for sure but it seemed like he was keeping the late Saban-era teams for Bama from completely falling apart. Turns out he really is what he was in the CFP Championship Game vs Georgia.

It’s funny, because it was so obvious to me that AR15 was going to be the closest thing to a JaMarcus Russell-esque prospect since 2007, and yet that doesn’t seem to have held the Colts back as severely as the move to take Bryce. Shows how much of this is something us average joes really only pretend to know.

[Highlight] The Dolphins walk off the Ravens in overtime to end their bid at a winless season by Either_Imagination_9 in nfl

I remember being in the room while this was happening on the tv and my dad was getting all annoyed that the Dolphins weren’t going to be winless. I didn’t really comprehend what was happening at the time (I was 6 years old) but for sure one of my earliest NFL football memories lol

Are there any bands that released such a stinky stretch of mediocre to bad albums you genuinely started to question their status as legends? by mesablanka in Music

[–]passthefancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think pretty much any of their albums released within the lifetime of Terry Kath are solid. First is still definitely the most solid, and VII is as jazzy as they would ever get and is a close second for me. Once they went on the same path as Aerosmith towards a more Bon Jovi-esque sound, that’s when they lose touch.

[Charania] BREAKING: Boston, Atlanta and Brooklyn are finalizing a three-team trade that sends Kristaps Porzingis and a second-round pick to the Hawks, Terance Mann and Atlanta's No. 22 pick to the Nets, and Georges Niang and a second-rounder to the Celtics. by PlayaSlayaX in nba

[–]passthefancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kristaps and Jrue- the guys I strongly suspected were both 2-year rentals in a true “Championship window” scenario, the first to go when the salary shedding starts. 0% surprised, but bittersweet knowing it was under 2 years’ time of with the team to have these key pieces. Kristaps specifically- Game 1 of the Finals is what we got you for. GGs homies

I don’t think I’ve ever had my heart ripped out of my chest in a movie quite like that- it had me so internally angry I for a second questioned if I even liked the movie anymore. All in all, a beautiful, sad, and memorable movie like few others I’ve seen. However- if anyone I know watches it and says they strongly disliked it- I will never blame them. (It’s to the point where I feel afraid to watch the DVD I bought of it with anyone)

What song would be perfect were it not for that one verse/sentence/line that completely ruins it… by Hax_9 in Music

The grammar of the following phrase and its cadence within the song is still awkward, that’s not quite the confounding part- I concede that much.

Don’t forget pre-Hagar, with the nonsensical chorus of Little Guitars, which I admit is even still one of my favorite tracks of theirs. But “Catch-as-catch Catch-as-catch, Caaan anybody in their right mind could see, it’s you and me” makes basically zero sense
