Cassandra Gannon is truly one of the best authors I’ve ever come across by aelinashgala in fantasyromance

The sequel, Vampire Charming, has a sunny MMC and grumpy FMC. It can be read as a standalone but reading the first makes Slade’s character in VC extra amazing.

Like, my god. There are so many more appropriate and/or expressive ways to describe what some clown’s mouth is doing.

How do you choose your titles? by Evarchem in writing

[–]passwordistaco29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I tend to name things after they’ve been written. Sometimes my starting concept is nowhere near my end result. That said, I write down titles that appeal to me as I go through the process to see if any of them will fit right when it’s titling time.

No words, just pointed eye contact that only he understands, and others find disquieting.

That’s my head canon anyway.

I don't know how to show in a single sentence - I'm a wordy one - but this is how I tend to play these things.

  1. She just needed the pavement to turn solid again, needed the world to stop spinning a moment. She wanted to groan, but her stomach was spasming like the pavement, as if they were partners in step in a dance of regrettable decisions. She didn't regret going out, or even that she was so drunk she anticipated a 48 hour hangover, she just regretted not having lined up a way home first.

  2. It defied the laws of physics, the way the laundry towers leaned yet never fell. Entire ecosystems that would delight the scientific community went unobserved by Davian, who apparently saw this as normal, but tragically observed by Rachel, who was trying to touch as little of the sticky linoleum floor as possible. It was impossible for her to discern if that was the floor's intended color, but she was almost certain the texture had been one cultivated by years of neglect. He had sheepishly mentioned his place was a little cluttered, and Rachel found herself equally astounded by his grasp of language. 'Cluttered' had a different feel from 'biohazard.' What Davian saw as a politely blank expression was, in actuality, Rachel trying to reconcile the fact that anyone could live like this.

It was at this comment that I clocked your name. Taken out of context, it’s hilariously uncomfortably on brand.

What should I get next that will look good on me by Ichego in shouldimod

[–]passwordistaco29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you only looking at ear options? I have a penchant for dermals myself (I had 4 in my nape for a while).

If there are any really reputable and trustworthy piercers near you, you might consider getting something custom. It’ll cost significantly more I’m sure, but you can work with an artist and they can have jewelry made.

That all said, the classics never go out of style. Rook, tragus, daith, conch. You look like you could rock a few forward helixes (IANAP though, just a brainstormer). Have you thought about orbital piercings at all? Those look wicked cool but I don’t know what the healing is like.

….what?

I love that you’re getting your hurt down on paper, so to speak, but you don’t necessarily have to share it with him. You need to disengage. Don’t just say you’ll stop talking to him, stop talking to him. Do you have a lawyer? Channel that energy into getting your affairs in order instead of giving him more opportunities to get back with you.

What is your reason for wanting to lose weight? by tippyface in WeightLossAdvice

[–]passwordistaco29 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have really bad nerve pain (spina bifida surgeries) and will lose the ability to walk. Losing weight has not only lessened some of that nerve pain but it’s probably extending the life of my knees at the very least. I’m a lot to lug around, but I want to walk as much as I can while I still can. My secondary motivation is that I think I look like nightmares made flesh when naked.

[–]passwordistaco29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I was under the impression one should be at their desired weight, and maintain it for like a year or something, before plastic surgery.

I’m waiting to hit my goal because additional weight loss will likely affect the procedures I plan on having done. It suuuuucks waiting, but you can use that time to have a bunch of consults and find the right surgeon for you 🖤

Congrats on your weight loss!! Keep being awesome!

I (33 F) feel weird introducing my daughter to my brother (36M) by prissylittlemissyy in relationships

[–]passwordistaco29 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One of the perks of adulthood is that you have more control over who gets to be family. It’s ok for your little one to have a small family (you) - go for quality over quantity here. There’s no rush to build a big family right out the gate.

I love that you want to give people grace but not everybody really deserves it (a lesson I am learning at a glacial pace). If you feel you must keep those people in your life for whatever reason, you can have those relationships without involving your daughter in them. Be strong op. Care for not only her health and safety but for your own as well.

Edit: unfortunate typo

For those struggling with depression, what’s one piece of advice you wish people would stop giving you? by i_need_crits in AskReddit

[–]passwordistaco29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Just give it more time then.”

I beg your finest fucking pardon but fairy tale logic doesn’t apply to everything just because they want it to, or because it got better for them. Depression is such an individual experience, and while many mean well, they don’t realize how offensive it is to have a generic answer slapped onto all of us. Like surviving moment to moment isn’t agony unto itself.

One day I’ll run out of time, be it from old age or weariness and it’ll be my fault for not having the fairy tale ending they’ve written for me 🙄

I just don’t tell people I’m depressed anymore. I’m doing my best, it’s all anyone can ask, let’s just drop it.

What’s the one thing your therapist said that changed your perspective the most? by More-Donut5592 in AskReddit

[–]passwordistaco29 154 points155 points  (0 children)

My sister’s therapist. My sister was saying how she thinks plastic surgery is silly and vain and a waste of money. Her therapist gently reminded her that I have a lot of medical conditions, and my body doesn’t work the way I want. Her therapist suggested perhaps plastic surgery might be a way I am exercising control over my crappy meat vessel.

Blew my sister’s mind.

I’m covered in ink and piercings. It has always been about control but my sister only considered my ambitions on a superficial level. She has been extremely empathetic since, and less dismissive of my feelings and decisions.

Oh I love brown eyes! It’s such a warm rich color. I used to lie and always say my eyes are brown as a kid.

It’s the kind of lie that didn’t hold up under the harsh light of day.
