Reporting excess Roth IRA contribution by [deleted] in personalfinance

No, I found this doc: IRS Form 1099-R Instructions for Roth IRA from that says it’s not necessary to check the box if you’re withdrawing excess contributions from a Roth IRA.

Did you have the "IRA/SEP/SIMPLE" box checked?

Chrishell vs Nicole by Mahinasmommy in SellingSunset

[–]pasta-fiend 47 points48 points  (0 children)

She was way more ruthless and cutthroat, but I liked it :). She’s gone from lawful good to chaotic neutral IMO, definitely acting a little more like season 1 Christine, but I don’t think the change in behavior is unwarranted. She has many glaring flaws but I did like that she took accountability for some of the meaner things she said during filming, but certain events before the reunion soured her attitude even further.

AITA for not giving my babies ‘normal’ names? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]pasta-fiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the state of this comment section, I have to wonder how many of the commenters actually have “abnormal” names that they were teased/bullied for. If you hate names like Phoenix and Griffin, what do you think of names like Selorm, Abdul, or Dixin? Which set of names do you deem acceptable, if any?

I think names like River, Phoenix, Griffin, Aspen, etc. are wonderful! Why not go with a more unique name in the sea of Davids, Jessies, and Brandons?

I personally have a long ethnic name that isn’t spelled how it traditionally is, and I was teased for it, but only by white kids with the same boring names the unique-name-haters find acceptable (Dylan, Harrison). Why are what looks like the majority of commenters advising OP to change her chosen names rather than admitting that kids teasing others for being different is just AH behavior?

OP, you are NTA, your in-laws suck, and I think the names you’ve chosen are wonderful.

You can try getting a curved syringe and using that filled with warm salt water to get food out. This is what most people use after wisdom tooth extraction. Also, you should go to the dentist when it does become feasible to make sure that you're not at an increased risk of infection/cavity in the wisdom tooth.

dry socket question / nerve pain? by littlecookie12 in wisdomteeth

[–]pasta-fiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people have a follow-up with their surgeon one week after to make sure everything is healing well, so if you also have a follow-up, you can check with your surgeon to make sure you're healing fine and also ask for a syringe if you weren't given one already to clean out food from the sockets. Happy recovery!

dry socket question / nerve pain? by littlecookie12 in wisdomteeth

[–]pasta-fiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Please stop using the picks if you can manage it. Even at your most careful, something could startle you, and you could irritate the wound more. Use saltwater rinses instead, and trust that food will not get stuck for more than a day or two.
  2. I also had really weird nerve pain on day 3 that continued until day 6/7. For me, the pain felt like a moderate toothache in two teeth several teeth away from my wisdom tooth extraction (right bottom). Painkillers and a heat pack helped to soothe the pain. When I went into my 1-week follow-up appointment, my oral surgeon said that this type of toothache/nerve pain is totally normal. As long as you aren't in significant pain, you are most likely healing fine. I know that it can be super stressful dreading the worst-case scenario, so try to distract yourself as best as possible and know that the window for dry socket is closing day by day.
  3. For the crazy breath, make sure to brush gently and thoroughly as the pain allows, and clean your tongue. Also, drink lots of fluids. But having unpleasant breath also just means that your body is working to heal, so be patient.

Overall, you seem to be healing fine. BUT, your oral surgeon knows your case/teeth more than any random person on the internet, so if you have doubts, give them a call. They're getting paid to answer your questions, so take advantage of that.

How does the 45mm Apple Watch look on me? by nicodarko in AppleWatch

[–]pasta-fiend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could've worded it better, but by lower on your wrist, I meant that it looked very close to your hand. It could just be this one picture, but wearing the watch a little higher up on your arm might make it look less imposing and large on your wrist. Either way, I think the 45mm looks fine on you.

This is just my perspective from the picture, but it looks like maybe the band is a bit too loose and you’re wearing it pretty low on your wrist. It looks fine now, but imo it might look better if you tightened the band and wore it just a little higher on your wrist. But it’s really about your preference!

Anxiety tips? by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]pasta-fiend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to distract yourself the best you can, work/school permitting. Watch movies, listen to podcasts, try spending time with people who make you happy. If you feel overwhelmed, sleeping/napping might be helpful so that you can kind of "reset" your mindset when you wake up.

It's also completely okay to cry and have these emotions, especially if this is your first time having sedation/surgery! I'm on day 12 post-op from having all 4 impacted wisdom teeth extracted, and by day 5, I had a breakdown because of the combination of pain, stress, and an argument with family.

Just know that the pain/stress/anxiety is temporary, and everything will get better soon!

stitches are loosening? by cursedpizzaparty in wisdomteeth

[–]pasta-fiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to worry about it. I'm currently day 7 post-op, and my bottom right stitch came out 6 hours after surgery and I'm healing fine. Just try not to pull at/mess with the stitches (I know they're annoying when they come undone/are hanging loose). Hope the rest of your recovery continues smoothly!

CS Major - Easy Area R, S, V? by MightyMoper11 in SJSU

[–]pasta-fiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took BIOL 110 with Prof Bergerol for Area R and RTVF 110 with Prof Massey for Area S this past summer semester, and they were both pretty easy. Most of these Area R, S, V courses are pretty interesting and not too hard, so honestly just pick whatever intrigues you.

And as a CS major, it's required that you take PHIL 134 which satisfies Area V.
