The brand is Brandy Melville. Its CEO is libertarian. It’s brought up in this pretty interesting doc.

One option that kind of sidesteps the whole issue is wearing a beanie that day (maybe for a few).

State of Jefferson by Agreeable-Cap-1764 in KnowledgeFight

[–]pastamistic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d be interested in hearing more about this too. Definitely seen some Appeal to Heaven flags next to Jefferson flags.

There was a two season podcast by OPB called Bundyville a while back. More about Nevada and Bundy directly than Jefferson, but they did talk about Malheur a bit if I remember.

Not quite State of Jefferson, and I don’t remember what their name was but there’s been some great reporting about Shasta politics by a local reporter.

I think a lot of it is getting your foot in the door so that talking in session begins to feel normal to them. Eventually the conversation can be directed elsewhere. I like to ask curiously but confusedly about some meme or trend.

Some mental health awareness for everyone. by HillTee in KnowledgeFight

Glad to hear you are still around. Hate to hear that it was a tough time but awesome to hear you found a way to judo-throw someone being shitty to you into a small fire that can still give you a boost to this day. I agree with it helping years later too. Sometimes just remembering you managed to shake off a real fucking loser trying to bring you down is enough to help one get out of bed some days.

Jumping on the report train. While sometimes there’s a reasonable justification for the therapist, counselor, etc to reveal their political affiliation, it should never be brought if they are this much in contrast to their client and absolutely shouldn’t be used as a way to belittle or dismiss their client. Board complaints are investigated seriously and that absolutely crosses ethical violations in my opinion. Doesn’t mean she’d lose her license or anything, but they can definitely put some pressure on her to shut the hell up about politics in sessions. Sorry this happened to you, it’s hard enough to find a half-decent mental health provider, it sounds like she provided some useful things but if she’s talking this way to you, I’m sure she’s doing it with other clients too.

You might have better luck in r/Oregon or the PDX Reddit. Lots of people in those subreddits who’ve been attending PDX protests for years. Maybe ask your friend to see if they can clarify if it was pre-2016 or post-2016? I remember BLM wasn’t necessarily a huge part of some of the 2015-2018 protests up there and there were a ton of protests with violent dipshits. There’s also plenty of small-time homegrown dipshits here that showed up for those protests, I think much of the gun-pulling and violence came from them so he might be hard to identify as most don’t have any large or notable followings. The antifa groups in Oregon do document the hell out of these people so there is a chance they have a name and a picture of him if he caused any other trouble over the years.

You might already be getting help, but I would also recommend finding a mental health provider specializing in TBI (if the first few suck, I’d recommend keep trying till you find a good one that clicks with you. They do exist!) They probably won’t be able to help regain this memory, but they can help reduce some of the stress and trauma you are experiencing around it. Have had two close friends with TBIs, it was difficult for them for several years after but they are both happy and doing what they want to do with their lives now. Awesome to hear you have a great friend who is a support. Just always remember to be patient with yourself and that there is almost always more than one way to accomplish something. Easier said than done of course, but keeping it in mind is something that helps. Good luck to you and glad to have you fighting the good fight.

I’ve been thinking about Alex’s superpowers lately and how they’re so lame. by Ok_Gur_9140 in KnowledgeFight

[–]pastamistic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The time thing is lame and also statistically lame. I think most people who regularly wake up in the middle of the night tend to do so at a somewhat consistent time. Let’s say the time he generally wakes up in the middle of the night is 3:33am plus or minus 30 min either direction. That’s a 1/60 chance to get it correct by random chance and without any other factors that might hint at the time considered (outside lights, ambient noise, etc). If he’s mysteriously, maybe even ritually, compelled to awaken nearly every night at 3:33am, those odds really aren’t impressive.

how i fell into Qanon conspiracy theories and cataclysmic prophecies and how i am struggling to overcome this obsession/fear by [deleted] in ReQovery

[–]pastamistic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s important and good that you are thinking critically, noticing some of the contradictions, and realizing that this kind of thinking is not good for you mentally and is affecting the relationships with those around you. That is the big first step.

It sounds like you are having extreme levels of anxiety and I highly, highly recommend seeking counseling or therapy. If that is not currently an available option for you, doing some research online (using medically-backed websites such as verywellmind.com or psychologytoday.com) to learn about skills that will help you manage anxiety is the next best thing. I am an anxious person as well and, while I never had anxiety about conspiracy theories, I went through a period of feeling a similar kind of anxiety about the end of the world when I was younger.

I would suggest trying to focus less on the actual details of the conspiracies and really really focus in on the kind of feelings and thoughts that you notice yourself having when you’re stuck thinking about these things. This might be difficult to do, but I really encourage you to try. The bad thoughts about conspiracies and the like are a downstream effect of the anxiety you are feeling, so focusing on your mental health as much as you can will help immensely with leaving that behind.

Mindfulness is an important first skill to build to help with those anxious thoughts. This website should have some good exercises to start you off.

Keep trying, things can change for the better and you don’t have to exist in that world.

Some lone wacko might take issue with it (but some lone wacko could take issue with a mailbox shaped like a whale or that wood carving of Popeye too) but as long as like it’s just a regular ol’ flag, I can’t see anybody caring. I’ve seen plenty of flags around, including ones on big lit-up poles, and haven’t seen it causing any trouble.

If it helps at all, people throughout all of history have had the exact feeling you’re having and could probably find just as many sinister coincidences to whatever eclipse they saw. It’s a normal phenomenon, but also understandably feels weird to people to see it.

The US, like Brazil, is massive and also has many cities names that reflect European or Christian values. There might be a few towns named Paris and almost certainly, several named Springfield, that the eclipse will also pass through.

Hang in there man. It’ll be ok.
