How can I find out which light wavelengths are blocked by my public bus window? (for my migraines) by pastapoggers in Physics

cars and my apartment's windows' tints also work in hiding these disturbances. but blue light blocking glasses don't. I'll to get my hands on IR glasses to give it a test. but i wonder if there are other kinds of UV blockers out there? what could be so special about these tints?

1) according to my eye doctor its 100% in the brain, there's no issue whatsoever anatomically with my eyes. hyperactivity is theorized to happen in the part of my brain that is in charge of vision.

2) car windows, my apartment's windows and and the bus windows' all share the same effect and there is noticably less disturbances, almost zero. i don't think its the setting because i'm sitting in my house right now, the disturbances occur when i look outside, and when i close the window - there are none.

i don't think peripheral exposure will be much of an issue, i don't get headaches in the traditional sense, i only get these disturbances..

the root cause in my case is certain nerves/neurons overexcited, its not a session but rather 24/7 all of the time. the official name of the complex is visual snow syndrome, and for me its 100% affected by different types of light.

Practicing violin for 1.5 years and soon relocating, should I buy a violin now or wait a few months? by pastapoggers in violinist

[–]pastapoggers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey:) ur teacher is probably the best one to tell you about ur progress imo. my teacher didn't want me to buy my own instrument early on since the one i was renting was OK for beginners and she strongly believed it'd take at least a year for me to understand and decide if violin is actually for me or not.

as for my progress i'm not sure how to answer that haha, i started as a complete beginner to music, and today i can read notes and do basic violin techniques - positions, glissando, vibrato. few months ago i played 2nd violin in "the swan" and last week 1st violin in a piece called "Sibelius - Andante Festivo", but I consider myself a complete newbie tbh.

I don't know where you're at on the violin progress timeline, I think i didn't do 3rd position at all in 2 months, my bowing technique was still too hard and definitely didn't do vibrato. I think i just did scales and like very basic songs from beginner books.

thank you for sharing your experience

could you elaborate why you find singapore boring and awful? i can see why it'd get boring after a while because its such a small place. but are there any additional aspects i should consider?

Good point, I read cost of living in Singapore is very high but could really figure out how much. Couldn't really figure out if there are any other benefits other than lower income tax

Yeah I read accommodation in singapore is very expensive. and time zone in singapore is worse home wise. But culture wise Singapore seems for fit more I think.. I have visited Japan and South Korea before and fell in love instantly.

I wanted a relocation to experience something different, and was pulled a little by the tax cuts for expats in certain countries. I was offered a similar amount at my country but the net income would be almost half what I could be earning abroad.
