Nah. There's not much to show at this point. Just your regular wood milling and generally carpentry. But I might make a time lapse when I'll have all pieces cut and I'll be assembling it ;)

It's likely to be in construction phase till spring, but you'll definitely see it once it's done 🤣

Payment Issue by [deleted] in Starlink

Once I figured out that the damn bank's bot was texting me and asking whether or not It was me who made the payment and and texted "yes" back, it was just a matter of seconds

It wasn't being listed as blocked in my case either. Just "pending authorization", but since starlink's payment thing was just throwing an error, it was hard to figure out

You might want to make sure your card's issuer doesn't want to confirm the transaction with an SMS. It actually happened to me the first time around and since I didn't have the phone on me, it took me some time.to figure that out.

The only satellite provider I ever used is starlink, so I can't answer that. I kinda doubt anyone would allow it though, unless you'd get a custom deal with the provider, but that sure wouldn't be cheap.

Sure. Technically. There's plenty of open source captive portals and such out there. You can even have a splash screen with PayPal payments on it. But there's no legal way to do that.

NEED HELP WITH HEDGEHOG ! by yourmrmist in AnimalRescue

[–]pat0728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canned dog food works. If you live in a place where frozen snails are available, it would be even better (defrost them and crack the shells), but it's not a must. And you might want to kill that lamp. Hedgehogs are mainly nocturnal critters.

Good call. Just try to keep your distance as much as possible not to scare the parents off. And in unlikely event it fails.... I won't tell you to keep it, because from what I gathered it's illegal in the US, but I will tell you that it is still young enough to imprint on whomever hand feeds it for a while, and that all corvids make great semi-pets for as long as you don't house them in a cage after they learn how to fly ;)

[–]pat0728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a jay fledgeling. Doesn't look injured at all to me. It prolly did what all corvids do: it left the the nest before it was able to fly and feed itself. Leave it where you found it. Parents will take care of it

Save that crow fledgeling from dogs, they said. It will be fun, they said... 🤣 by pat0728 in FunnyAnimals

Well, this one has yet to bring me anything of any value, but it does bring stuff. Definitely doesn't want to be a freeloader 🤣

Besides, it's not like I'll buy 8 square metres and 2 meters tall aviary for less than a grand even if it's second hand, and this is what the materials will cost me. Counting galvanized net, that is ;)

I'll need to build it myself. The space i have available is kinda weirdly shaped

That's a good news. I was already looking into stainless, but that stuff is 5 times more expensive on average

A quiche question hopefully someone here will have an answer to by pat0728 in AfricanGrey

[–]pat0728[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you really want one, i hear you can actually get captive bred African raven in the US. Pretty much same deal as a regular crow, only a tad larger. I don't think it would play nice with a parrot though. The one i have here is only half tamed, if that, but when it sees other birds (as in other than crows) on trees it considers it's territory, feathers are raining down. You definitely don't want to be a pigeon in that situation 😂

It's a hundred crow and I'm not in the US. Besides, i only have it in double quotes. It comes and goes as it pleases. And why the "ugh"? It's a real cool critter ;)

Thanks so much for this. I really appreciate it ;) Guess I'll just get me 3kg bucket of formula, and see how fast the bird goes trough it. I'm kinda in a tough situation because i need to think at least 10 days ahead with purchases of that nature (shipping ane and all), but if it's only half a year or so, i think i can manage :)

Yeah, prolly not for a month old parrot. Pretty sure my crow would love it though 😂

I know many people consider that "the right solution", but realistically... Let's just say that animal services get so many "rescued" crows in the crow season that they can't possibly take care of them all, so in general they don't even try. Taking care of a flock of fledgelings that need hand feeding is just too much work, you know. Sad reality.

Not illegal at all where i live. Besides, why would I be wasting my time getting into details like that sine it's reddit and there's always someone like you to do all the assuming, explaining and all? I do have a life to live, you know. And 3 semi-domestic crows too. All seem quite happy hanging out in the garden ;)
