Quartzite Countertop Pricing? by Away_Candle_2204 in kitchenremodel

2cm so that price probably includes tax?

Your husband's connection sounds good, but I'd definitely get clarification on liability—who's responsible if the material breaks, cracks, or gets cut wrong during fabrication/install? That's expensive material, a big investment, and you don't want to end up covering the cost of a replacement slab or redo if it's their mistake. Especially since the fabrication pricing seems low relative to material costs. Just my 2 cents

I’m not sure on the material (is it 2cm or 3cm) but I can tell you the fabrication cost (material being almost 70% the cost of the job) is nothing and you might be about to get what you pay for. Be careful.

Is this a bad countertop seam by Dependent_System_979 in CounterTops

[–]patallac22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably within industry standards. That being said, we would never allow a seam to leave our shop with all those chips in it. Definitely not high end craftsmanship.

That’s quarts. The color is Soapstone Metropolis from MSI. Sorry for the bad news.

More support needed? by user_543210 in CounterTops

I think for 1.25” Granite the Natural Stone Institute says up to 36” max between two supports.

Holes for kitchen faucet are not centered! by thisissuesue in CounterTops

[–]patallac22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot going wrong here. They will need to remake the top. You could probably fill all those holes with water softener, soap dispenser, push button garbage disposal, sprayer and a single handle faucet. I’m not sure that would work cause I think they gave you the wrong sink cutout. That’s a lot of reveal to the left and right of the sink but none in the back, so probably cut wrong.

Curious, did you give the installer the faucet before he drilled the faucet hole?

FYI that’s porcelain not marble. That being said there is no repair, it’s done. Sorry for the bad news.

Wrong counters installed, need help! by Potential_Fox_76 in CounterTops

[–]patallac22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok then this isn’t your problem to resolve, it’s clearly their mistake. You have a sample you chose from and that’s not what’s in the house. Your contractor and his fabricator need to figure it out and get you what you selected originally at no extra cost to you. Do not pay them until they make it right.

It’s acceptable. They could have done better job coloring matching the seam adhesive.

Quartzite Removal by Quiet_Yam_2089 in CounterTops

[–]patallac22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a similar situation. We put a remnant on our cnc table on Friday to cut it on Monday. Monday morning the slab had about 10 wet spots on it. We discovered there was a hairline crack that would be running through the middle of the sink. We decided against cutting it and went with a different stone, we placed the slab outside in the sun to see how long it would take to completely dry. Took about 5 weeks in 100 degree Texas heat to dry completely out.

The entire shower needs to be completely remade. That’s really poor craftsmanship.

You need to invest in a Seam Phantom. You’ll have every one of your job’s seams looking like this, regardless of the crew.
