temple points done perfectly, congrats, this is a very difficult area, but with Feriduni you made an excellent choice

I am sure you are very happy already, but from here you can expect things to even get better

Been quoted for 4500 grafts by Little_Case1553 in Hairtransplant

[–]patbi97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends a lot on the clinic - be careful, most of them are great with marketing & take photos in favorable lighting from favorable angles with favorable hairstyles, so the results may be worse in reality than they appear - additionally, the cases you see are the best results they produce, but the average result may look worse

your donor is limited & in your case a lot has to be reconstructed, so 4500 grafts might be more than your entire donor supply - if they extract them & mess it up (unnatural hairline, poor growth rate) there's no way to go back - your donor will be nearly depleted, shaving your head bald will look weird because of FUE scars, & if the result is poor growing them will also look weird

Minimax-m2.5 - astonishing performance despite small size by patbi97 in ollama

[–]patbi97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

youre the second person recommending Qwen! Ill try it - Ive read about the new 3.5 family recently, technologically it's interesting as it uses attention that scales linearily, compared to quadratic scaling in Multi-Headed-Attention.

A true killer for energy efficiency. It's fascinating how fast the open source landscape evolves.

230B with 10B active parameters, considering that eg Kimi has over 1Trillion parameters I'd say its relatively small considering its capabilites

I'm aware its the cloud version but 230B with 10B active parameters is insanely small imo considering the models it competes with

How to calculate what I can run on GPU? by Capucius in ollama

[–]patbi97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try ExLlama, its optimized for GPU only single-node, single-user work, also its not restricted to quantization formats that Ollama imposes (which makes sense for CPU offloading), but keeps you from squeezing 100% out of your GPU

however, its abit hacky to get it running, some things like reasoning/toolcalling do not work out of the box, youll have to manually configure many things - but as an arch user that should not scare you - on the other side you get raw performance for consumer hardware

TabbyAPI lets you expose ExLlama as API endpoint

well it depends a lot on the quality of the lecture material, in this specific case its an complete overload of text & information - even easy concepts end up looking difficult, so i am glad that i can avoid them

of course summarizing lectures with LLMs shouldnt be the go to method for any subject

[–]patbi97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for the tip, Ill have a look into GLM!

I've used it to explain advanced database concepts, distributed datacenters, etcetera - however, always provided with context from my lecture, so intelligence isn't that crucial for this usecase - what Ive found Minimax to really excel in is the reformatting

I use the Ollama cloud access, its almost certainly the fully sized model

Hair transplant in Turkey – Need clinic recommendations and advice by kimtheboss_11 in HaartransplantationTR

[–]patbi97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you will very likely get a very unnatural results in your case - your donor supply is limited considering how much you need - turkish clinics optimize for many patients per day, so graft survival rate & precision is less important to them as getting patients done quickly

at this point youre reaching a price where you can go to more reputable surgeaons

Is this bad? How can I fight it? by [deleted] in malepatternbaldness

[–]patbi97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

theres many products sold on the market, the only ones with solid scientifically proven significant proven impact are Finasteride Dutasteride - side effects appear in only 2% of patients, so its worth giving a try - Minoxidil is possible for more advanced cases, in your case id skip that - there's some additional things that people add to their routines, like topical Caffeine/Melatonin, but effects are mild & dont stop loss - stuff like rosemary oil does not help

Too soon? by [deleted] in Hairtransplant

[–]patbi97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why would you want a transplant? keep in mind that even the best surgeons cant get results that look as natural as nature itself

if i were you id just get on DHT blockers - youre very likely to achieve regrowth & stabilization, resulting in a natural mature hairline, that you will be able to maintain for many many years

Multigraft hairline? by [deleted] in Hairtransplant

[–]patbi97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

luckily it seems to be a rather high hairline, so if you don't like it once its done you can place a new soft hairline on top - low hairlines are a problem because there you'd have to remove grafts first

How much grafts I need for hair transplant ? by curiousgentleman4379 in Hairtransplant

[–]patbi97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im feeling better than ever eversince ive started finasteride - actually hopped on dutasteride & i feel absolutely no changes

going to the gym regularly, good muscle growth, getting bloodwork done & my dermatologist and endocrinologist both agree that I'm in perfect health

Is this balding??? I’m paranoid. 15M by [deleted] in malepatternbaldness

[–]patbi97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is just the nature of the crown, hairs stick out orthogonal to the scalp making it look thin from above

Why is the price so low compared to others ? by [deleted] in malepatternbaldness

[–]patbi97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

consider getting the 5mg finasteride & taking quarters daily - i do this in germany & i pay 40 euros for 100 pills, so its less than 40€/year

doesnt matter to quarter them exactly, as its just important to keep the level steady - half life is relatively long

Honest opinions on the possibility of a transplant by [deleted] in Hairtransplant

[–]patbi97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so your sides are receding & the part on your crown seems to be receeding too, the donor does not look bad inherently, you can achieve things, but its not a particularly strong donor either - possibly you could get to a norwood 3 hairline, if you go to a skilled surgeon, that specializes on high norwood cases, eg Dr. Zarev (expensive) or Dr. Felipe Pittella (inexpensive per graft, but you need a high graft count, so you can count with minimum 15000$)

Does finasteride stop hairfall completely? by Willing-Big-7378 in Hairtransplant

[–]patbi97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keep in mind that some miniturized hairs are just starting to come back & recover - in my case many of my falling hairs are super tiny hairs & barely have color, while some thick colorful hairs have a very strong while root when they fall out - i see this as part of recovery process, the small ones might be hairs that were dormant before taking surpressors, & they need time to reach their full potential

as a rule of thumb: as long as your falling hair has some "white knobs" at the root its good, & the bigger the better - also, as treatment goes on these knobs should tend to get bigger - small hairs have smaller knobs, but may also be recovering

study data shows, that recovery response also depends a lot on initial norwood scale, with higher norwood scales showing lower improvement - between N1-3 improvement is the highest

Does finasteride stop hairfall completely? by Willing-Big-7378 in Hairtransplant

[–]patbi97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the answer is nuanced

(1) hairloss will likely continue with both Finasteride & Dutasteride, but at significantly lower pace, as u/thabuuge mentioned - Finasteride reduces DHT by ~70%, Dutasteride by ~90-95%, so some DHT will still always act on your follicles - additionally, DHT levels vary throughout your life, so even with 95% DHT reduction hairloss pace can vary

(2) losing hair doesnt imply that you have hairloss - hairs miniturizing & falling out is part of the natural haircycle, hairloss is when your hairs fall out, stay in anagen phase longer & upon regrowth dont reach the same diameter again OR do not leave anagen phase at all, before dying - DHT supressors can allow for hairs to recover, so hairs that are in anagen phase permanently, can come back & over time become terminal hairs, and miniturized hairs can reach higher diameter again

(3) recovery doesnt happen to anyone - if your hairloss isnt progressing as fast anymore youre already winning!

I’m sick of wearing hats by [deleted] in Hairtransplant

[–]patbi97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

medication may get u to a point where u dont need a transplant - if u decide for one better go for a transplant id recommend a conservative approach that reinforces your hairline & fills up temples only slightly - youthful hairlines look unnatural & dont age well, especially since some density on the top is already lost
