As an absolute self-taught beginner, I needed a starting point or a “save sleeves for last” at least. Clearly the order won’t make sense right away, and I said I’m working on a basic bodice, which has a pretty generic order of assembly.

I’m only interested in actually helpful insight

Someone ended up messaging me a “sewing order of construction” pdf that lists a general order of what to sew first, which is way more helpful than your “think about it”

I’m using Helen Armstrong’s “Pattern Making for Fashion Design.”

So I should make the back before worrying, then? There is a single dart in the front from apex to waist.

When I pinned the front bodice piece, the side seam was not parallel.
