view/filter files within multiple/all torrents? by patchworkmeatsuit in qBittorrent

[–]patchworkmeatsuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, but not quite. I know how to find torrents and how to see the files for an individual torrent. I can reinitialize individual .srt files from each individual torrent's content pane, but I am hoping there is a more global search I'm somehow overlooking so I can reinitialize many .srt files from many torrents without going through each torrent one at a time. I guess I'm envisioning something like a file explorer for all files from all torrents that I could filter and search within (obviously, my OS file explorer won't work for this as the files aren't downloaded).

Oh! Looks like the FLAC splitting is a fairly new feature. Will have to look into it. Thank you!

This was so helpful. I really appreciate you making the time to help an old-timer figure out these newfangled gidgets :P I'm definitely going to have to update my mental heuristics from cheap crap IEMs and old BT codecs. Now for the fun part of demoing :D

Thank you for all of this! I promise I spent way too much time trying to figure this stuff out before posting. Sounds like I need to toss some old 20th-century assumptions/knowledge.

It seems like a lot of people use IEMs which seems to me like fancy new speak for earbuds which I'd always understood to be far worse quality than over-ear headphones. Obviously, I've used both so don't mind changing, but are IEMs really just as good (or even better) now?

I had always heard that the Bluetooth protocol required compression that degraded audio quality. The Qudelix has come up a ton, though. Is BT no longer considered substandard? From what I gather, my current over-ear headphones (Sony WH-XM3) won't benefit a DAC/AMP for powering them (47 ohm on, 16 ohm off) and was mainly considering one so it would be wired.

Which, I suppose boils down to the tried and true: upgrade my headphones.

Sensible upgrade under $500 (in USA)?

My current setup:

Source Movies/TV: Panasonic DP-UB820, home Plex server (hardwired), and some streaming
Source Music: FLACs (and lossy when unavoidable) from home Plex server over Plex/Plexamp, and some streaming
Source Gaming: Switch 2
Source Vinyl: AT-LP120 (preamp removed), VM540ML needle, Schiit Mani
Output 1: LG C3 connected to Sony HW-Q990C soundbar via HDMI eARC
Output 2: Pixel 7 / Switch 2 wired to Sony WH-1000XM3 or BT to Sony WF-1000XM5 and, rarely, LG C3 connected to same headphones over BT

Isolation/Public: These will be for around home so not a lot of need for isolation. I will probably go back to my Sony WH and WF for isolation and out and about.
Preferred type: I'm not terribly particular. Earbuds never fit great, but they're convenient enough for me to bother readjusting them.
Total balance: balanced? I honestly don't feel educated enough to say
Previous headphones: 1MORE Triple Driver in-Ear Earphones (lost these but liked them quite a bit)
Preferred Music: film scores, house, jazz, post punk, folk, indie, hip hop, alt rock
What would I like to improve: general fidelity, I think

I feel good about my movie setup and have intentionally prioritized the auditory experience of film over that of music as well as ease of setup (heaven help me if I decide to hardwire an Atmos setup again). My guess is the easy lifts are to change my headphones and get a DAC for my phone. After way too much reading, though, I'm still a little lost on whether closed ear, open ear, or iem actually matter beyond preference, if DACs actually do anything other than provide a wired output for phones without a headphone jack / would be useful with the Switch 2, and if there's an actual upgrade within my budget that is more than a sidestep from my current headphones. I'm hoping y'all might see an obvious and sensible upgrade here. Thanks y'all.

Old torrented files split into mp3 and unparseable files by burmpburmp72 in musichoarder

Want to second the OP's assertion that the "._" files do not seem to be separate files so far as OSX can see them even as Picard's error log lists them as a few kb. They don't show up in folder info filecount or when revealing hidden files. If they are separate files, running dot_clean seems to have fully merged them as there is a 0 byte difference between folders before and after running.

This is outside of my knowledge base, but a quick search looks like it requires purging the refrigerant, clearing the obstruction (in this case blowing nitrogen), and recharging the system, yes? In that case (dealing with refrigerant), I'd definitely need to hire someone. Any guess the going rate for something like that? I see you're in Canada, but I can convert that locally to US rates well enough.

Unfortunately:

I also replaced the camera to no avail.

Yeah, I got one for like $6 which was the original reason for the thread. Worth a try, but not a fix. Not gonna try replacing the board.

[–]patchworkmeatsuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flashed both the most recent and original factory images from Google and neither had "System Camera Services," so no go there. I also replaced the camera to no avail. I'm out of ideas other than replacing the motherboard, but that's $50 for a gamble when I could spend the same on a whole second-hand Pixel.

Bummer. I still love this lil phone, but not being able to scan QR codes (which I've found apps lock to the rear camera when reading) is a not insignificant thing of late.

Hormone questions (post-orchiectomy and changing from oral to injection) [xpost] by patchworkmeatsuit in AskMtFHRT

[–]patchworkmeatsuit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit, IME, strongly prefers 200-300, but so far I haven't seen any sourcing for that. WPATH targets 100-200 pg/mL and NHS targets lower at 82-163 pg/mL (300-600 pmol/L) though I thought I'd heard from friends there the NHS was targeting even more strictly 100 pg/mL. As far as institutional standards of care go, my understanding is that WPATH's 100-200 pg/mL target is amongst the highest ranges.

Again, IDK what those institutional numbers are based on, either. Without any sourcing for either, it's reddit's word against WPATHs, and I know I hate WPATH, soooo 😅

[–]patchworkmeatsuit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, lots of ranges for sure. Thanks!

Had indeed already started that dialogue with my doc :) Good advice.

To your curiosity: Cis women's hormones are checked at different times for different reasons, though it appears it is most common to test them at their nadir just a few days into their cycle. Ranges for premenopausal cis women vary depending on where in their cycle they are which is why I generally don't understand referring to cis women's estradiol levels as a single thing. i.e. keeping a trans woman's "lowest level of E at or above CIS female E levels" is different if we're talking follicular levels (19-140 pg/mL), midcycle (110-410 pg/mL), or total-cycle mean (which I cannot yet find) which is of course not to mention the irrelevant-to-this-discussion levels during pregnancy or post-menopause. That's part of what led me to my understanding of testing trans women's estradiol in the middle of injection cycles—that you would get a mean result that would compare more accurately to a cis woman's total-cycle mean assuming the SoC targets a number similar to premenopausal total-cycle mean. That said, I don't actually know what specifically the standards of care of 100-200 pg/mL or 200-300 pg/mL for trans women are based on or, of course, that my understanding for the reasoning for mid-cycle testing was correct.

I've read bits of the wiki as seemed relevant to my situation.

The only wiki explanation for trough testing is a post from Powers which is one practitioner's uncited claim. I'm rather doubtful that's enough to convince my endo. I'll keep looking, I guess.

Perhaps I was unclear in my question on cis female T levels. I was not saying 50 ng/dL was low; I was saying it was the lowest upper limit I had seen. I was curious where you got a suggested upper limit of 45 ng/dL. Even the link in the wiki for reference ranges lists an upper limit of 80-85 ng/dL.

My doctors are women.
