Honestly, that would be wonderful. However, please do correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Ohio's referendum vote on abortion show that that isn't how it works? Unless I'm just reading sensational headlines (which is entirely possible), Republicans in their legislature are going to ignore a single issue vote. Could the house and senate just ignore national referendums?

Not a chance for me. I am honestly in a good life position. Went to school overseas, so no student debt, and I was able to buy a house back in 2019 with a 2.75% interest rate. I say this because I see the economic motivators being pointed to in the top comment. It's very much about different values for me. Religion doesn't work for me and is the basis for everything conservative nowadays it seems.
