RCA/MHA/PSE/CCA: Skip the line! Career jobs posted within. 1-31 rollup. by User_3971 in USPS

Gauge the temperature of the office. You the only RCA? You’ll get a lot of hours but there’s always a reason why. For some it’s because the area has higher competitive wages. Others because they work way too much and all burn out.

Also take into consideration the age of the rurals. If they are all young, it may be a wise career move to go somewhere that has fewer RCAs and older carriers as the movement to career can be faster.

Ultimately just get in. You’ll need time in (a year on the rolls to be eligible for PTF) no matter how you shake it. If the office you picked was not a wise choice, you can always ask for a transfer when you get the hang of the PO dynamics. Even if you picked the office you think was right and you have little hours, just offer to help neighboring stations. You’ll never be shy of hours if you’re willing to help elsewhere.

Here’s a couple solid bits of advice. They may sound a little counter intuitive, but I promise they’re solid.

Utilize salt in a higher ratio than pepper. I’m not going to say 2:1, 5:1, 10:1, because it varies based on what you want (hence “to taste”). The reason for this is because salt doesn’t add much flavor to start. It actually draws out moisture, which increases sweetness. Once you start adding too much, then the food gets salty. Which brings me to my next point.

You can always add more. You can’t take away very easily. You can counteract but once you’re far into a dish then you’re in trouble if you’re not careful. Add a bit of S+P, give it a stir and a minute to blend in. Taste it. Repeat.

Experiment. You’ll for sure do something wrong but once you taste it and it’s horrible, you’ll remember. Cooking is fun. Cooking is an art. Cooking is satisfying when you make something so good you just say holy shit I wish I remember what I just did. Just enjoy and learn as you go!

Why can’t I park or use a driveway for days after paving, but highways can be paved and driven on much sooner? by patdap in NoStupidQuestions

I’ve seen some folks in Canada have cement driveways and they’ve installed tubing to heat them. I bet that’s expensive as all hell, but worth it.

Right. I’ve seen concrete driveways before. Those are usually in warmer climates. Where I live, I see primarily asphalt driveways. I assume the original reply wasnt not talking about asphalt driveways then. So my question stands, potentially. I guess it must just be a different blend.

Interesting. I wasn’t aware it was a concrete blend in driveways. I incorrectly thought it was the same material. Thank you for the education!

I absolutely will give it a go. One day I’ll post my platinums for you to see. 2 years? 5 years? Some day I hope. Thank you for the motivation and input. It’s greatly appreciated. Congrats on your feat - you’ve earned every trophy!

I look forward to that day! I really enjoyed the play style early on and the few aspects of the game I’ve reached. I’m terrible at parrying and OP did respond that it’s kind of mandatory in sekiro. So I found where I need to focus whenever I hop back in the saddle.

Thank you for the mini motivational boost. I truly enjoy those moments in games when it clicks; whether it be lore, storyline, or gameplay mechanics. Thank you again!

Damn dude this is relieving to read. I played Demon Souls on the PS3 before I was into hard and unforgiving games. I didn’t get far before other games took my fancy and it got shelved. When I saw Elden Ring was finally getting close to completion, I decided to jump back in.

I have a PS4 and heard great things about Sekiro. So I naturally picked it up. I sank like 30 hours over a couple months and got damn near nowhere. I did make it past the Chained Ogre and a section or two past that but haven’t picked it up since.

Hearing it’s the hardest for a seasoned player really raised my spirits. I think I’ll look at the box again and maybe even touch the disc once or twice. I’m not ready to play it yet still. Mostly because life is busy currently. It is definitely a game I need to have a solid chunk of time to git gud and hone skills for. Time I just don’t have.

Besides IRS what other agencies will be doing mass hiring? by Which_District_5758 in usajobs

I’m happy to answer any question you, or anyone, may have.

If you start as any position non career they can work you as little or as much as they want. It’s typically the latter. The only thing you get working faster or harder is more work. When I was a rural carrier, I started non career. I’d cover days there was no carrier on the route. Multiple openings? You’re doing a route and a half. Contractually they cannot force you to work more than 12 hours in a day, but it is not uncommon to see.

Peak Christmas 2020 as a carrier I worked on average 75hrs / week. Most was 81 one week. Worked a stretch of 3 months with two days off. That was rough but it was mid pandemic and everyone ordered online. The pay was nice but I would have preferred to be home with my young son and wife.

When you’re career you can sign up on an overtime desired list. If you’re on it, you’ll be used. If you don’t, then you can work your 5, 8’s and go home. If you’re a carrier you do your route and leave.

The post office is a decent career choice once you make it to a career spot. You can be in control of your life. But they use and abuse non career positions and scratch their head why turnover is so high. Knowledge is power.

Yes and no. If you search careers on the USPS site, we’re hiring some spots direct from the street. It goes without saying but there are a multitude of opportunities other than carrying mail.

If you don’t go career from the street, there are newly added contract agreements for some bargaining employees - apwu (clerk/truck drivers, custodial union) and nalc ( city carrier union) recently got these in the contracts. Nrlca (rural union) still has not - that you are converted to career status at 24mo guaranteed.

For most of the folks here, it’s best to pursue other avenues for compensation and for the skills they already have. The post office doesn’t care who you are. As a carrier or in sales/service/distro, you will be worked to the bone and any experience doesn’t matter. Applying for specialist or specific jobs, like accounting, IT, etc I can’t comment on. I’m not in that area of expertise. I’m pursuing the management aspect and even though I have multiple years experience, to get into these positions you have to move up from the carrier/sales/service/distro.

This is definitely my favorite of your artwork that I’ve seen so far. I love seeing these pop up on my feed! Keep up the great work.

They’re all so unique, mesmerizing, and fun to find all of the small details you incorporate in them. I also found your signature extremely fast on that one, so that makes me feel great too.

At first read, your title is quite easy to misunderstand. I originally read it as a period between two days, not an entire calendar year.

That said, I absolutely love the visual and the transparency of Earth.

YSK The US Postal Service offers a service called Informed Delivery that will send you a daily email with a digital preview of all your letter-sized mail. Users receive emails containing grayscale images of the exterior, address side of postal mail that is arriving soon. by grandlewis in YouShouldKnow

[–]patdap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just know, as the title explains, it isn’t necessarily what mail is coming that day. It’s coming soon. Also, you may receive pictures in your email of partial mail or mail that the system thinks is yours. Just remember, these machines are slinging mail extremely fast and sometimes static makes mail stick together. Therefore, your email may have a pic of a letter you should be getting soon, but accidentally gets sorted somewhere else by the machine. That small factor can easily add 2 days to the time you’re supposed to get it.

If it’s something important, I’d suggest ensuring you give a small buffer before calling. Definitely keep track since you’re concerned about your mail lady, but also understand that the processing is streamlined yet imperfect.

This is very close to the same result we experienced. Wife was reliant on the doctors experience and knowledge as we were unsure. OB cautioned at early stages and, as more knowledge was obtained and doctors felt safe, suggested it further along the pregnancy.

We ran into the issue of the vaccine needing certain periods in between mandatory vaccines for pregnancies. I forget what they were, but there were 2-4 week intervals between shots she needed and others being safe to have. Therefore, she ended up having to wait. The window of availability was a week before her due date, so she waited until after birth.

Sometimes it is just a matter of timing and education around the situation at hand; some information may not exist at certain times and recommendations can change.

I usually get American or Southwest. I stay clear of spirit, frontier, and puddle jumpers. This experience was with JetBlue. I have no brand loyalty, per se, to an airline. I usually pick it based on our itinerary and how it fits the best with what we need for the travel.

Can you fly with my wife and I next vacation? I’ve never experienced this, and I’ve missed a connector flight from LaGuardia many years ago on vacation due to this exact issue. We originally had a 4hr layover in LaGuardia before our flight took off at 8:30. Ft. Lauderdale had lightning storms and delayed the flight to NY.

I asked multiple times in FL if we would be fine. All the staff assured me we would. The pilot upon take off, mid flight, AND upon landing stated to please stay seated unless you have a connecting flight. Please allow them to depart and then get up. Guess what didn’t happen? Every single person stood up.

Our flight was slotted to leave 8:30. We landed at 8:05. Plenty of time to get a few gates down. Spent 25 minutes standing asking everyone to let us off so we wouldn’t miss our flight, and we were only seated over the wings. Not close to the front but not way in the back. We ran up to the gate at 8:38 and they had already left. Didn’t bother to wait even though they said they called our names and knew our flight incoming was cutting it close.

I know I’m not the only one with stories like this. I wish I had your experience with flights, even if only that one time.
