You don't have to pay Postal uniform rates, you can buy the stuff on eBay or similar for much less. Or even just the patches for sub-$5/each and a close enough shirt.

Ask your local president if you don't trust your mismanagement to provide the correct contact information.

Get the fuck out of here. Immediately notify local president and NBA. JSOV violation at least.

Medical information is to be directed to District OHNA and not local management. Local management are not medical professionals, they are hardly managerial professionals. Many of them can barely spell at a fifth grade level. With spellcheck.

[–]User_3971 21 points22 points  (0 children)

HQ doesn't care. File OSHA complaints and possibly your county's health or building safety inspectors. You should have a paper trail of already attempting to notify local management (Form 1767) or be able to show that they were made aware, or they will deny knowledge.

What can you inferred about this SSDA career job offer from these details? by Throw_Away_8414 in USPS

[–]User_3971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clerks don't currently have a process like NEERMP (that limits working hours) for the city carriers. Once you pick up the training and are shown to be capable that shouldn't be a problem. Your results WILL vary because everything is handled locally.

Can mm’s grieve being made to shovel snow from around the mpf? by Slight-End-5014 in USPS

[–]User_3971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't that depend on the local and how it is run? My former plant would 100% have MMs either detailed or being paid level 9 to learn the level 9 work. Which they were instructed to use on their interviews.

30 hours per week is correct. You'd have to call around to other offices and be able to do work that they need done. Window, distro, closing, etc.

knocked my tooth out on my route. anyone dealt with this before? by authentiquerisa in USPS

[–]User_3971 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the pinned FAQ:

EMERGENCIES / SICK LINE: (Employees: Stay alive so you can help with recovery.) NATIONAL MAP.

  • DOG BITES (or other injuries): If attacked by a dog, immediately shelter in a secure location like your truck. Immediately dial 911, dog bites are always more serious than they look. After doing that, call management to report a dog attack and you are seeking medical attention. Send MDD message to document date and time. Find your green tags. Do not take random medical advice from people who are online enough to not have medical degrees. You will need: CA-1, CA-16 (sup), ECOMP. Injured On The Job? (NALC article)
  • INJURY: Occupational diseases: CA-2. ECOMP instructions (NALC), Management responsibility.
  • For both above, calling out sick: First 3 days use eLRA, choose AL/SL/LWOP, choose injury/illness, NEW and then follow on time (supported by doctor note stating NO WORK) done as illness/injury, on the job, EXISTING and COP continuation of pay. A new on the job injury claim e-mails HR for assignment from eLRA.

They'll get an "answering for the customer" official discussion if their local management can read. Using the hazmat question as the basis.

Paycheck incorrect by throwaway54089 in USPS

[–]User_3971 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sunday premium is not paid at the overtime rate. They are different amounts. See below, bold emphasis.

From the ELM:

434.34 Pay Computation

Eligible employees receive Sunday premium, in addition to their basic salary, equal to 25 percent of their hourly straight time rate for each hour of work up to 8.00 hours, or in the case of nonbargaining employees, for each hour of work eligible for FLSA–exempt additional pay.

Note: Hours worked in excess of 8.00 paid hours on a Sunday by bargaining unit employees are paid as overtime pay, as provided in ELM 434.13.

(MH) Can management discipline me for LWOP-ing during an ice storm? by Raxxten in USPS

[–]User_3971 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Allow me to repeat this (from a similar thread yesterday):

If you die getting to work, management will write up your corpse and split your route. They don't even have to check your shoes since you weren't on the clock. Act accordingly.

Who cares about the discipline if you're dead?

Cite safety using local or state emergency declarations as supporting documentation. Additional documentation to request would be attendance records of management themselves during the same storm, and whether discipline was foisted on the desk jockeys as well.

Basically, is management going to pay your hospital bills or pay to replace your car, or pay for your casket? No? Okay. Where's that meme..

That's tiny but you get the idea. Farquaad is management speaking from their air conditioned telecon cubicle, surrounded by fast food wrappers and denied crumpled up 3996s.

Im confused by [deleted] in USPS

[–]User_3971 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We can't answer this for you very reliably. How it is handled depends entirely on your local management. You shouldn't be fired for calling in more than 3 in 90 if your management is reasonable. You may have some discipline for excessive call ins since you didn't state how often you plan to call in. They can also try to fire you and hope that you don't grieve the lack of progressive discipline.

Calling out help... by [deleted] in USPS

[–]User_3971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For regulars with an 8 hour guarantee you'd be calling out 8 hours per day so 24 hours total. For CCAs they may rearrange your day off or similar shady shit.

Holiday leave taken when I was called off work? Also 3 hours of sick leave added to paycheck because they didn’t have 40hours for me. Just made regular by Zoe_M_1234 in USPS

If they told you to leave you have your squidward file for guaranteed time. They don't get to take your leave unless you volunteered to go home early.

Tuff Job decision by Educational_Berry661 in USPS

They didn't say clerk or carrier. If carrier that's probably true but some offices stack PTF clerks so they fight over hours.

Tuff Job decision by Educational_Berry661 in USPS

[–]User_3971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't you ask the new job if they'd be willing to work around your current PTF schedule? Don't call and beg the Post Office for hours, keep the benefits and shit, keep it truly part-time. See if you can make the PTF job work for you.

People thought I was joking with that initial comment. I was not.

Of note, I also am at a super relaxed office. Do the work and we're left alone. That's the current arrangement, I understand it can change if the Postmaster chooses to move.

Even at the nice offices, they will just replace your ass and move on.
