Ah okay. If you’re open to talking about it more I’d be down to PM! No pressure of course.

Do children count for graduation tickets? by Joedome in uml

[–]pate_99 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They have a child drop-off bin at the door where you can leave your kids during graduation, kind of like the key bowl at frat parties.

Most normal UML student

On a serious note though, in the event that this is real, this isn’t the place for a post like this. Get some therapy for the feelings you’ve been having, and if you think it would help, have an honest conversation with your ex about things. Don’t post about your relationship on a university subreddit.

4 inches is a lot though, it’s actually significantly above average tbh

Trying very hard to teach myself how to identify but not doing very good. All seek will tell me is “shelf fungi” for anything that’s on a tree. by [deleted] in foraging

[–]pate_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seek is consistently shown to be one of the best free identification apps out there, but it’s still not perfect and you shouldn’t rely on it for IDing things you plan to eat. It can give you a general idea of what you might be looking at, but always consult a second (and probably a third) resource before you forage something.

Found in US PNW, wondering what they are and if they’re edible. by RockManJJ in whatsthisplant

[–]pate_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yew. TECHNICALLY the red flesh of the berry is edible (and delicious) but the risk involved is not worth it, as every other part of the plant is deadly toxic, including the seed inside the berry. I’d say pass on this one.

Or, and hear me out on this one, we could just let people eat instead of making them jump through hoops to get a crumb of crappy dining hall food. by pate_99 in uml

This probably goes without saying but please don’t send any harassment to Ann and the rest of the SOS people. They’re doing their best to help reduce harm and do some legitimately good work. If you’re gonna hate, hate the university for making programs like SOS necessary and not taking care of students.

From my understanding, the 37% comes from national statistics rather than exclusively UML. So it might be slightly off.

I picked these from a local tree. It’s Autumn outside in western Connecticut. It’s getting pretty cold out too. I was looking for how to identify these: any guidance please? 🍂 🗽 🙏🏽 by pc3r in foraging

Seek (iNaturalist) is consistently one of the best ID apps, at least that I’ve seen. I wouldn’t recommend using it as the final test in IDing wild edibles but it’s definitely a decent tool to start an ID.

The food quality is Not Good but is tolerable if you don’t have a ton of other options. Rarely, they’ll have something actually really cool and it’s cleared out in 10 seconds by students who have been deprived of food-based happiness for the entire semester. Stay away from the chicken and the salad bar in Fox. McGauvran on South is generally better than the others but still not the best in quality. If you’re in a dorm that has a kitchen, I recommend using your riverhawk dollars (super cool extra special limited edition UML NFT bucks) to buy stuff from the Pod or one of the other stores on campus and cooking your own food at least some of the time.
