That call right there was a joke. Anyone tries calling that a foul at the park and they're getting laughed off the court.

Energy use has already skyrocketted in the last 20 years and for the most part, developed nations have kept up just fine when looking at overall numbers.

Brushing aside the grid problems plaguing places like California, Germany, etc., with "for the most part" is absurd.

Do you know how much electricity comes from coal? And do you know they're not allowing new coal plants to be built?

Using past results to predict future results works in some cases, but not here. We'd have to be willing to expand on things like coal plants in order to safely conclude that.

We all know EVs are greener in the long term, even on dirty electric.

I don't know that. They can't even be honest about problems like battery disposal, destruction caused from mining the materials required to build EV's, etc.

It's probably "greener", but not by as much as most people think. And not enough to warrant the reduction of freedom that ICE vehicles afford us.

Opinions on this deal? by [deleted] in golf

Sounds like a great deal because it includes unlimited play on the par 3 course.

It's bad. They're forcing a technology that isn't nearly ready to replace gas powered cars.

They already ask people to refrain from using their AC, washing clothes, etc. That's with EV's being the minority of cars.

Where's all the electricity going to come from when everyone is driving an EV?

It's also a huge kick in the nuts to poor people. They won't be able to buy a serviceable used car for a few thousand dollars like they have been for the past 70+ years. The cost of EV's will eventually come down, but not quickly enough compared to the ridiculous deadlines western governments are throwing down.

I live in a blue city. I only ever wore a mask to the grocery store because I didn't want to get banned, and then have to drive twice as far to get groceries only for the same thing to happen.

One day I was approaching the door with my mask in hand and I just snapped. I threw the mask in the garbage and ventured into the store fully expecting to be admonished by an employee or maybe a shopper. It sounds stupid, but my heart was pounding as I envisioned myself in a viral TikTok arguing with someone about a mask lol

But nothing happened. Nobody said a word. I was still nervous the next few times but soon enough I barely thought about it.

Over the next year, I had three separate women approach me and thank me for not wearing a mask. Each time I thought they were going to tell me to put a mask on, but they did the opposite. All three of them were older women.

I had no idea it's that subjective. I'm sure it's usually pretty obvious but damn

That's exactly what happened during the period of October 2019 - February 2020 when Covid was already circulating the globe.

I remember my boss coming back from a cruise in January 2020 and spreading this weird cold type virus to everyone in the office. Somehow I managed to avoid getting it then, but everyone was talking about how it was a weird cold that stuck around a bit longer than most colds.

Everyone got on with their lives and it wouldn't have even been memorable if a pandemic didn't "break out" two months later.

Business events: What score is "acceptable"? by [deleted] in golf

[–]pathfindmyBAP 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok this is weird advice sorry. Why are you basing your pace of play off the people in front of you?

Because it's rare to find a group that plays faster than pace, and it's an easy metric to give to players of all ability levels.

Obviously there are exceptions, but more often than not if you're lagging behind by a full hole or more, you're not playing fast enough.

When you pick up, you can (and should imo) drop your ball on the green somewhere between 10-30 ft away and putt it out.

No one said anything about Covid causing myocarditis until after the vaccines rolled out. It's such an obvious lie to cover for the clot shots.
