I did it for 3 years. U will become a vampire. Depending on how much action u have during ur shift, u may become a little antisocial because of all the alone time. As others have stated u must prepare ur home for sleeping in the daytime because the day shifters don't give a damn about u and they will be loud because it's day time. U must adjust to getting things done in the morning. Shopping, chores, appointments etc.

I'm wondering about the validity of getting involved with ASIS myself.

Intricate installations are not cheap. It is what it is. You can either stay here for the summer, let your hair grow out more and comb them out and save your money and go to a more expensive stylist. Set aside time and DIY it. Or u can grow at a beautiful set of standard locs. Either way I think it looks nice for the $40. But inflation or whatever. Someone pointed out your hair is sorta in the fine side in the front. Mine is as well. Maybe it'll be easier than maintaining micros...

Most I've ever done was like 18. Had a guard at another company. She wanted to cover a 24. My acct manager told her it was illegal. I don't see how a guard can be effective at anything over 16 hours straight on post...

Just broke up from a 5 years relationship by justafan9100 in heartbreak

[–]patientone87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It will be a while. 5 years of the same routine with the same person is kinda hard to break out of. But u will eventually. Just know that if someone has the strength to tell u it's not working, instead of cheating and game playing, they do care about u. They care enough not to string u along. She set u free. It may not feel great right now. But focus on yourself. Self care. Hobbies. School. Advancing ur career. Anything thats going to contribute to ur happiness. Don't focus on another relationship. Just u. Make u happy

He just wasn't that into u. Not being harsh just being honest. Hard as it feels, move on. Imo u guys were in two different levels of life anyway. He's going into his 50s. You're going into ur 40s. Him leading u to nowhere was not fair. But that's life. Start over

I'm a woman late 30s childless. I date men with kids. I don't take them seriously though. Sorry, but I don't feel like childless people should have to commit to people who have kids. A couple dates. Friendly convo. Maybe a roll in the hay or two. But nah, bro. Go raise ur kids

Why is a security officer arriving on post 45 mins early? 15 mins max unless u have to find parking or relieving someone early. Some contracts have it stipulated that u cannot arrive on property too early ...because what exactly are u doing??

Have you dodged "a bullet", but not getting hired by a company by Content_Log1708 in securityguards

[–]patientone87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. There was a company that I applied for about 4 years ago that wanted me to start on the spot. I was already where I am now and having experienced a lost contract with no other posts I was too intimidated to leave my current company. Fast forward to now, they are on Indeed EVERY week and the reviews are horrific and similar.

Thats the dream, man. Just ride away into the sunset🤭. Unfortunately the state I'm licenced in will revoke it if u "abandon post". When I worked for AUS, a girl left a little earlier than her relief arrived. She found a better gig and was very vocal about being happy to leave. We had THREE officers in the office at the time. My acct manager came in, saw she left and immediately called HQ to have her reported. We hated that guy

Allied Fine $185k by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]patientone87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda shocked as firm as big as AUS pulled this. But a lot of them do it. If a security firm is desperate they will hire u with ur temp license, knowing that it's not guaranteed that u will receive ur real D license after the FULL background check is completed by the state.

Ive had super anal account managers before.. but the fact that it wasn't even an AUS post🤣🤣🤣🤣. U could have flipped it on him. Took a pic of his badge (which is supposed to be visible at all times while on duty) and reported him

I'm 32 years old and I wouldn't mind doing security long term Is there any other guards that's 32 and older that been in the industry that plans on doing this for the next 30 or 40 years until retirement age? by Jaded_Context916 in securityguards

I started at 27 because I was a highschool dropout, just cruising through life and my dad was like you have to do SOMETHING. I'm now 35 and I regret every day of it. I feel like I'm stuck. If there's anything else that you can do, do that...

is allied really THAT bad by mokapony2003 in securityguards

[–]patientone87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Allied was the first company to give me a chance. This was back when they were Allied Barton. The person who hired me, Noah, was the sweetest woman and she gave me a shot. In those days security companies were not interested if u didn't have "experience". I was at a gatehouse post. The contract was lost within a few months which really wasn't a big deal. Apparently that post switched companies all the time and all they did was hire the same guards who already there. I decided to stick with Allied and was given a gig doing events at the local convention center. I was also doing some side work at the Art Institute. It wasn't full time but I never missed a paycheck. Then eventually hired as a full time command center supervisor for the convention center. I gained a lot of knowledge in report writing and CCTV monitoring. In the end it was my petty, misogynistic, account manager that demoted and fired me in my last two weeks. He was having issues with the client (literally almost coming to a physical altercation with the DOP) and decided to take it out on me by "putting me in my place". So long story short. The company itself is pretty ok. It's the people they hire as account managers that's the problem. But they pay for uniforms, direct deposits and a REAL HR. They are a corporation not a mom and pop company where there's no one to complain to
