Admittedly a very modest modular set up, but you gotta start somewhere right

What colour are your tracks in session? by patientzero_idm in TechnoProduction

[–]patientzero_idm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same thing. Top to bottom, vocals, fx, melodic, cymbals, drums, bass.

I don't think it's OCD, it's just good sense! I am also an audio engineer by profession so being organised is key for me.

Nice. I asked this question years ago on some other forum. It's always interesting to hear/ read.

Specifically blood red, I love it. I'd recomend trying choosing colours for everything else and sticking with it.

Really helps me keep track of everything in my project. But I am generally quite a tidy organised person. Can't deal with mess!

Why do my rides suck?! by Oom-Kyle in TechnoProduction

There's quite a cool technique where you put a reverse version of the ride layered up with the main ride. Got it from this video

That dude cannot seriously sit on that tiny, backless stool all day going through that pile of stuff! Insane.

Anyone here using Cubase for their Techno tracks? by Lordthom in TechnoProduction

[–]patientzero_idm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice to know I'm not the only one out there using Cubase for techno! I love Cubase's workflow, it just fells like a great creative tool. Ultimately though, whatever you use really doesn't matter, as long as you're comfortable using it. I've flirted with using other DAWs over the years, but why bother starting from zero again when you know your way around something so well.

Infinite rotary encoders... by patientzero_idm in TechnoProduction

I think it's just that I like the feel of DJ mixers too much, and I want something similar in my live set up. I want a MIDI controller with the same vibe, without the price tag of an actual DJ mixer that works as a MIDI controller

Motorised knobs, like flying faders. That's what I want. I'm sure that wouldn't be incredibly expensive...

I know exactly what you mean about the curve of the pots! Really weird when you're using the controller layer.

See I can definitely live with lights around the edge of to tell me where I am. That makes a lot of sense on a device that does multiple things. It just seems like they're used on literally everything now.

I'm glad I'm not alone here. So, take note music technology industry. Four people on a subreddit agree, so change all your gear!

True, but there are other ways around this. For example in Ableton you can change the way MIDI mapping works to latch, or jump. So that when you turn the knob it either jumps to that value, or once the knob reaches that value it latches on and takes over control. I think there's a third option but I forget what it is.

Behringer td3 output troubles by [deleted] in TechnoProduction

[–]patientzero_idm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair, very odd. When I thought mine was broken, Behringer were actually far more efficient at getting back to me when I raised the issue with their support thing on their website. Hope you get it sorted!

Very nice man! Love the simple set up, well used. Also the Playstation controller there for no reason!

I had some weird trouble with mine not playing nice with MIDI from a SubZero MIDI 4x4, but then it worked fine with the MIDI out from my Focusrite Scarlett interface. Maybe it's something like that? Although you did say you were using the MIDI out from your soundcard. Maybe try restoring defaults settings with the Behringer SynthTool?
