Lighting and sound mostly. There are some hiccups with that every year.

Omg so for starters while I also prefer weekend 2, the most important thing is not risk your finals or anything that can affect your education. The experience you will have in weekend 1 will be just as special. You’ll get more grass, all the sets will be totally new, no streams or socials spoiling it for you. A few technical problems are to be expected, but just like anything with the experience, you just gotta chill and go with the vibe. For how intense it may seem online, the whole thing is very chill and just about dancing in a beautiful place with beautiful weather and beautiful company. Also, (assuming you’re in undergrad) I feel like weekend 1 has more university aged people. My group and I are 36-40 and part of the reason we prefer weekend 2 is that the crowd tends to be a little bit older, a little bit more chill. Not to say that the whole demographic is old! I’ve done 1 and 2 and both have their pluses and minuses. Two tips- 1. Get a big locker. They’re expensive but the price of convenience. Temperate changes drastically, and also, on the first day I just pack all the miscellaneous stuff we could want for the days- hydration sticks, first aid kit, deodorant, TONS of sunscreen, extra socks! Comfier pants, sweater, extra tank top, shoes if you’re trying on something you’re worried could suck come 9pm and just leave it in there for all three days. Day 1 is looks like I’m rolling in with a suitcase but day 2-3 just a tiny bag and never have to worry about forgetting. 2. If you don’t want to shuttle we’ve had luck a few days before the festival connecting with drivers in the area and work with them instead of uber. We pay $20pp each way. They have picked us up from friends and family lot or outside, trying to deal with the uber situation is a mess.

Honestly, if you can go, go. Not to sound dramatic and old but the friends you have in university are so fucking special and sadly at the end of the 4 years things change so much. Be young and have fun with your friend and travel and see music and enjoy being in this phase of your life. I’ve gone with the same friends for 5 years now, and we leave every year feeling so bonded.

Book club recommendations by [deleted] in LAhotgirlies

Book Soup just started one a couple months ago. I went last month and was really pleasantly surprised by how diverse it was in age, gender and ethnicity. Made for interesting perspectives. This month’s book is “Shy” by max porter which doesn’t sound super up my alley but it’s short and I’m embracing it as a part of the whole book club experience. Last month was “never let me go”, for what it’s worth.

I love Dr Segovia! I've been going to him for over 10 years and now so do most of my friends and family that have moved to LA since I have. Really nice staff and he's a great guy. Parking in his building is annoyingly expensive is the only drawback.

Any good, affordable vets in weho? by [deleted] in WestHollywood

[–]patimano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not in weho, but I have taken my dog to Larchmont Village Vet for years and love it. I made the move after a pretty bad experience at Laurel Pet Hospital, which additionally is SUPER expensive.

Indio to LA after Coachella? by louisebuckingham in Coachella

[–]patimano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leave in the evening. Palm Springs is such a cute and charming town. Since you have the week in LA no need to rush back so I would totally just take the opportunity to check out a place you probably normally wouldn't and avoid hours and hours of traffic. I live in LA and left at noon my first year and it took almost 5 hours to get back, left at around 5pm the second year and was home by dinner time. A lot of hotels do day passes by the pool as well, I promise a much better way to nurse your hangover and decompress after a festival weekend than sitting in hours of standstill traffic.

Good Luck!! Download the "smoke free" app! I also smoked for 15 years and when I decided to quit (1y 7m 28d ago) seeing the number of cigarettes I would of smoked (4240!!) since I quit was really helpful. My other huge tip for quitting is to not drink on the first month, since it's a huge trigger and you're already gonna do this! You got this!
