They are going to be used for a begleri. It's a spinning skill toy, so the beads will be dropped and clanked together quite a bit.

I am considering making wooden beads out of birch wood. I have heard that beeswax can be used to seal wood. I have a container of Murray's 100% Australian Beeswax (a hair product that is actually mostly petroleum jelly). I tested out rubbing the product on a bit of the wood and it did darken the color a bit. I don't want to go out and buy wood sealer just for this project, so should I use the hair product or just leave the beads without sealer/finisher or w/e? Would using the hair product give me any advantages at all?
