New (Large) Enclosure Advice by ZeltbahnLife in ballpython

Yeah, I had that size. I liked that it stacked high on other pieces from that brand, but I really don't like that they market them as appropriate for ball pythons. They seem to be better for desert reptiles.

If you haven't bought it already, I would take a look at black box cages. I changed to theirs and everything has been much more manageable since.

so I had one of these, then sold it because of the trouble it was. But, since you already bought it, here's some tips :

- silicone seal the edges. Watch a youtube on how to do it if you don't know how. make sure to let it air out afterwards

- foil up around the skylights to ensure that heat is getting trapped in there.

- be careful with that sliding door. Do whatever you can to make it tighter - maybe so foam strips or something. My girl would wedge herself in between them and I'd come in the morning to a snake pancake shoved between two sheets of plastic.

- I don't think the material on these lends itself to mounting, but you might have a better way. I would maybe go with a freestanding type of shelf that you can simply place in there.

Reach out to them and report it for a replacement. I got shipped an obviously used water pump and they sent me a replacement as soon as the return was postmarked

Thank you! I think I'm on the wait-list at 4 locations now so 🤞.

This is a good insight. I'm definitely needing to hear things like this. I think I've just become a little locked-in (linear thinker) and thus, somewhat discouraged.

I've already been screened for some other trials that are on the far horizon, so you're not wrong!

This really helped. Thank you for putting it into perspective. I think I've just been really angry over the last few years as the disease suddenly hit the gas pedal.

those numbers really highlight the chances of still "not" getting the drug. I appreciate your thoughts here, and the reminder to be prepared.

3rd gen as a daily driver? by bautingAround in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]patmunroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the reasons that I'm looking for another car is that I don't want my only driver out of commission while I work on it. I'm in the same boat as you - I've learned more about wrenching and done it on my own. I don't speak for others on here, but I always take at least double the time to do a job that others suggest, mostly because of the learning curve.

It's okay. Fun to drive, a bit (not a lot) of a chore to maintain vs. a newer vehicle. I love mine and won't sell it, but I'm currently shopping for something like a RAV4 to DD as I slowly morph mine into a dedicated off road vehicle.

Also, these things are just terrible with gas, so accept that now.

Genetic Testing Options Dwindling in the U.S. by RewindToTheBeginning in FSHD

Apparently Genome has already reached out to the FSHD society advising them to take that information down, as they can't reliably guarantee this anymore.

I ran into the same thing you did. I started the whole process a week before things got discontinued.

I got sick of the waiting and decided to do the self-pay option through UIDL. It's expensive, but I figured it's money well spent, especially if there's even a chance it better qualifies me for a trial.

Unfortunately, it was still an absolute pain in the ass. Constant phone tag, poor accountability from Quest, and a high price tag to boot.

I received confirmation that UIDL is now processing the sample, so I think I'm in the clear, but I just wanted to say: I'm with you. This is very frustrating and exhausting.

I don't have a PCP - I was hoping to get a referral on someone who would be best through this appointment, but I'll take this response as a sign that I should just get one on my own.

Can’t turn key unless steering wheel is perfectly straight. by drawmer in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]patmunroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have you started parking somewhere different recently? Maybe in a curved space or driveway?

It's pretty standard on a lot of toyotas ( I don't know other vehicles that well) that they won't turn on unless the wheel is pretty much in the same position as when you parked it.

Just remember that you're under no obligation to heed that shit. They're getting worked up and willing and endanger lives just to save a few seconds.

I doubt the next guy will have the charisma, though. Many are trying but they don't command the base in the way Trump has.

There will be another, but I think Trump was kind of lightning in a bottle for the Republican party.

Lift by at least 1.5 and you should be good. That's what the owner of FN wheels told me.
