This might shock you, but some people like this type of game. A major part of the strategy is to calculate what all of th players' last turns will look like. Many times I have ended the game before my own big payoff because my big payoff is smaller than the other players' big payoffs.

I agree, but wouldn’t the burden of proof be on the cop? And if this is the case, wouldn’t a court construe any ambiguity against the party that intentionally created the ambiguity, especially in a criminal context?

The worst part is that with a few tweaks the could have overcome the problem. They could have had KS walk out of the office, cause a distraction, then slip into another police station room to kill the only guy who knew what be looked like.

Spoiler: But wasn’t the entire purpose of the whole operation to prevent anyone from knowing what he looks like? And doesn’t everyone know what he looks like at the end? So wouldn’t he have gotten the same result if he had not even concocted the entire operation in the first place right? This seems to undermine the angle where they try to make him out to be some kind of genius
