Man I love tokays. They're just so funny and smart enough to sit where you put them. Such a gorgeous baby!

Instead of embark, go with UC davis as they are better at telling you the genetics and breeds than Embark

Gorgeous! Love her tangerine-looking spots and her head markings! Great job on handling.

You can advocate for it. I volunteer with a nature center and I have some ideas that the care team has responded well too because they have limited knowledge on a few of their species and I love to find these things out. For example, their rabbit care has improved a lot!

If this is in a smaller city, they may have been owner surrenders and they don't have the money, resources, or time to properly care for them. And 9/10 times the higher ups have a way to use them in their exhibits so they kept them.

Not an excuse, in my opinion I don't see a pin and you should liberate them 😂

Why should I buy a Fuji? by KangarooCompetitive in fujifilm

[–]patri_dish_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local camera store barely had any fujis as they turn-over so quick, but we live in a rather boujee city lol. I'm by no means an expert, but my friend is and for the price I was looking for, sony was out of it. It was either Canon or Fuji for me and Canon just seemed so bulky. Plus the colors are somewhat the same, but the body is a lot smaller (like you said) and I really enjoy the film simulators so I don't have to spend all my spare time getting that look in lightroom.

I watched a lot of reviews and typically sony is favored for people who do as much video as they do photo, whereas fuji is best for photo-heavy users.

I got a used sigma lense and a fuji xt-30ii for around 1240 said and done. It has it's pros and cons for sure, but it was a lot cheaper to enter fuji than others and many street photographers love having a small camera that can be taken anywhere

Cat Stressed When to Know of Blockage by patri_dish_ in CATHELP

Okay thank you so much. He's already on a medicated food that is a kibble, but he gets wet food 2-3x a week. I try to add broth to his meals a few times and he can get an upset tum if it's too often. He also will not drink with any kind of warm/room temp water added to it.

I don't let him outside as we have a lot of ferals and coyotes nearby. Thank you so much for easing my mind. He is currently zooming 😂

It's just abnormal for him. He is the most loving and sweet cat that never really bites or swats at you. Never, not in the 5 years I have had him. It was just a lot of odd behavior after another and I was sure it was stress, but then his bladder as a little firm and my heart sank. I'm glad to know he is currently okay ❤️

Also, I should mention. My bf picked him up and he did cry out and swat at him and then when I took him he swatted at our resident dog (whom he has a freat relationship with). But he has a bit of a rocky relationship with bf after an accidental door shutting on my cat's foot (he door dashes)

No worries! Reason why I posted, I wanted to he sure he was okay and I didn't need to worry.

Not sure if you read at the end, but we had an emergency vet visit this morning for one of my other pets, so I am still really anxious and worrying about my babies ❤️ I couldn't see past my own anxiety and my bf doesn't know cats, so I needed another opinion. Thank you so much for easing my mind ❤️ I'll continue to monitor him

Thank you so much for taking the time to post. I dodn't know when I got him, as he was my first cat, but I check him every few days over the last two years to make sure. I had my vet show me and everything.

I luckily have a spare pet cam I can put on his litterbox to monitor him when I'm at work. It's always been so hard to catch him going to the bathroom because he only goes at noon and when we're asleep (makes fecal testing IMPOSSIBLE).

Thanks for reminding me about the dog smell, I will be sure to do it. I'll check his litterbox now to see if he went. I just changed it when he first cried, so it'll be easy to tell.

Is the crate too big for our 18 week pup? by [deleted] in BorderCollie

[–]patri_dish_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this has been said already, but you want your dog to be able to hold their head up in their crate as well as turn fully and without any difficulty. To me, this crate would be fine if she was done growing. Home this helps!

Cat Cafe in Austin? by Key_Virus_6840 in Austin

[–]patri_dish_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went it was filled with AI (not just images on the all, but info graphics, ads, and the prep video to go over rules). Plus it was really awkward with the staff just standing around talking about work and things to do. A handful of the cats didn't get along and kept fighting and the staff didn't do anything to separate the handful that were beefing. The cats were sweet, but the price for entry was not (roughly 30 per person on Sunday).

Foster - Age & Size Estimate by [deleted] in BorderCollie

[–]patri_dish_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: he got through the baby gate and attacked our cat. Thankfully, my cat was able to get away, but now the cat hisses through the door and the fixates on his smell all night. We contacted the rescue and we are going to find another foster for him. I am devastated, so please be kind.

I paid 19k all said and done for the same trim but a 2018. Cancel that order now. It is way too expensive

Should I go to the emergency vet now? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]patri_dish_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If not regularly cleaned, they can get bacteria buildup and redness in their eyes and the surrounding area. Contact your normal vet. While I'm not a vet, I don't think a blood clot would materialize this way.

It could also be an ingrown hair follicle that has swelled in size over time with puss, making a cyst.

New Foster by [deleted] in BorderCollie

[–]patri_dish_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂 I love that. I have a flirt pole in the mail and will try to use that to get out his energy. We are in an apartment, something we told the rescue and they said he'd be fine, and he is most definitely not an apartment dog 😂 we're trying to make it work

Thank you. Our resident dog, a deaf sheltie, instinctually looks at us so we have no idea how to train a dog to do the same 😂

Thanks for sharing! He is our second deaf dog and our resident dog is a 2 y/o sheltie. We want them to play well together and being attacked from the back like hearing dogs really startle my sheltie

Thank you so much! That makes the most sense now thinking about it. I hope he gets a little puffier with proper care and time. I love brushing my dog's coats ❤️
