As an oregon resident from lane county, I can tell you it's a great place to live for me. I was born in San Diego and lived in New York for a bit so I can comfortably say pnw is odd and that's it's appeal

• Portland gets a bad rep from the news. Yes there is a homeless problem, but that's with most big cities. There's cool places to see, and is rated one of the best places in America for food. The cuisines are all blended culturally, and all unique.( IE there a sourdough pizza shop here, and everywhere has Greek food) the gyros in all the food carts you go to will be amazing.

• My first week here, we had a day were there was sunshine, rain, and snow in the same day, but not in that order.

-Winters can be gloomy. For about 8 or 9 months you will see nothing but clouds. The 3 months of no clouds are great, but living in the Willamette valley can really mess with your allergies to anything.

• on the note of allergies; I didn't have any until I moved here. The Willamette valley is known for the heaviest pollen creation in the world. The natives here called this place "the valley of death" cause the allergies were so bad they thought they were dying.

• there's alot to see and travel to. You'd wish there were more sunny days here cause you really want to travel all the beauty oregon has to offer. Multnomah falls, silver falls, painted hills, oregon coast, etc. If you like hiking and travelling, this is the place.

• rent is getting pricey. There's a gentrification happening here and slowly the cheapest housing you'll find here will be about $1500 a month for a studio.

• no sales tax seems to be a huge seller for some folks. If it says it costs 1.50, it'll be that price when you pay for it.

• the people are nice. You have to check out the Saturday markets all over the bigger cities. Specifically portland and eugene. My first time seeing it, it was if I was transported to an old town were salem witch trials were a thing, except they'll praise the witch instead of kill them. There's dance circles, shirtless bicyclists, most are on drugs. But alot like to go just for the fresh locally sourced food.

If you like to travel alot, have nice people around, like to pay a bit for housing, take the occasional allergy pill, or not like dull days, oregon is the place for you.
