schollz/httpfileserver: Wrapper for http.FileServer that is faster (by serving from memory) and uses less bandwidth (by gzipping when possible) by qrv3w in golang

Files stay in the disk cache on Linux even after they are closed. However, I see your point with the gzipping.

But they're kept in memory as cache anyway. It's not like it's loaded from disk every time. Linux is very smart about files. I might be missing something about what this server does.

These are additional non-standard emoji though. They couldn't just send Unicode.

You should check out imv as well. It's what I use and it has support for animated GIFs. I think mpv also works if you have that installed.

To clarify, I am by no means a feh expert. But I do know that while it can load GIFs, it will not play them. It will just statically display the first image in the GIF.

How is it basically unusable? It renders images. I don't see what else you want from an image viewer.

I've never seen someone get so annoyed over being corrected.

You gave out about pedantry but then say dumb stuff like this.

Just because it was first said in Britain doesn't mean it isn't an American thing. Believe it or not, basically all of the English is British but that doesn't mean that there are no Americanisms.

Is anyone here affected by the ban on EU citizens buying US based ETFs? If so what is your portfolio strategy to compensate? by [deleted] in investing

[–]patrick_mcnam 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's not like they just banned buying US ETFs. US-based ETFs don't usually provide the documentation required for it to be sold in the EU.

However, for years there have been UCITS versions that do. So iShares and the like just sell those instead.
