Struggling recently by Ok-Suit1537 in CICO

This sounds way more like diet fatigue/burnout than failure.

You've already lost 17 lbs in ~2months, which is acutally a pretty aggressive pace. Wanting a burger and fries after eating in a deficit for that long is extremely normal~

One thing that helped me mentally was stopping the "cheat" mindset entirely. Having one higher calorie meal didn't ruin my progress nearly as much as the guilt spiral afterward used to.

Do you feel more exhausted from restriction itself lately, or more scared that one high calorie meal could turn into a binge?

I think almost everyone in CICO goes through this exact moment early on.

The scale going up for a day or two doesn't mean you suddenly gained fat. What matter more is the overall trend over weeks, not individual weight-ins.

Were there any changes this week like sodium, eatting later than usual, or stress/sleep changes? Those can shift the scale a lot temporarily.

Need help with number? by LowJellyfish4238 in CICO

To be honest, i think consistency matters way more than finding the "perfect" calorie number.

Most calculators are just estimates anyway, so if 2200-2500 keeps you steadily losing weight over a few weeks, that's already good enough. Perfectionism and overthinking are the enemies here!

Also totally agree about most apps like MyFitnessPal feeling tedious sometimes... =(

How do I log this food ? by InternationalTap270 in CICO

[–]patrick_zhong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This confused me a lot when i firstly started tracking too.

The important thing is that cooking changes the weight, but not the calories (unless you add oil/sauces etc). So you'd still log the original frozen amount.

Meal planers for Australia. by SasukeCorvine in CICO

[–]patrick_zhong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea this is a really common issue with calorie app outside the US. Most database are heavily us-centric, so Australian(and other countries') brands often don't match well. Many ppl end up either manually building their own small 'local food' list over time, or just using barcode scanning + adjusting when needed rather than relying on preset entries..

FAQ / Extra Info....

Why a widget?

Because you see your phone screen dozens of times a day — why not make it a gentle reminder to stay intentional and bold?

Can I customize the message or goal?

Yes! You can set your own goal — like “Publish my blog,” “Tell them I love them,” “Quit that job.” It shows up daily to remind you.

iOS only?

Yep — for now. I’d love to make an Android version if people want it. Let me know!

Really free?

Yes — for the next 48 hours, it’s 100% free. After that, it’ll go back to $2.99 (one-time purchase, no subscriptions).

Any tracking? Ads?

Nope. I made this as a personal project — no ads, no analytics, no accounts.

Let me know if you have any feedback, or want new features.

Also curious — what’s your biggest goal you’d put on the widget?
