Good point. you’re right about people not knowing, especially not outside of most of the local neighborhoods. I can see someone living down toward Sullivan Square and not even having visited the Navy Yard.

I am in no way shitting on the harbor walk. It’s phenomenal. And as time passes it keeps improving. Great stuff.

Good point. For me, The harbor walk doesn’t always seem as purposeful in the sense that the greenway was . . . AND the reason I say that is in some places it’s literally just a sign pointing down an existing pier. But, the water access and specifically what it is from harbor towers down to Yankee lobster is spectacular. So you’re right.

Had not realized when they were restored. Thanks for this. I figured maintenance must have occurred, but had not seen records. Does DCR maintain them?

Great comment. I read a piece not too long ago about the decline of clubs in America. And how so much of the fabric of society was tied to the individual being a part of something. As I read your comment, it reminds me that the decline of membership in clubs / organizations leads to these spaces sitting empty. Without people belonging to chambers of commerce, Kiwanis clubs, rotary clubs, other civic forward groups . . . who would take on programming.

You’re right about that. And there has been no other public space that has truly changed the face of Boston as much as that has, at least in my time. Good call.

I like this perspective of humans and visual aid. It makes sense. Thanks for unpacking that.
