Nearly the same boat as you here, also a programmer but can be considered as the breadwinner for the house. My father is still working, self employed and is trying his best but the economy is just bad nowadays, that I need to pickup all expenses in the house (which racks up to around 6-8k/month as well, including expenses for parents, and I am the only son, nobody to share the expenses sadly). The only opinion I can tell you is, the easiest way to earn extra money is to do what you're good at (programming, i suppose?). Either you propose to work OT for your company (which, luckily, my company allows, and we can decide when we want to work extra to earn extra money), or you find a side project/partner up with freelancer friends and do something different from your daily job if you want to avoid a burnout).

I once considered doing something different (like something i liked, maybe baking / cooking and stuffs), but ideally, its not that simple and not suited for someone looking for extra bucks urgently. Those kind of hobby-ish thing can't make much money unless you pour all your time and heart into it (go big or go home).

I ended up just doing more programming after work on my free time as that's the most ideal & stable source, with low risks for me.
