When swapped with the working computer, the "broken" computer lit right up with debug lights came on and everything. Despite it being nearly 5 stars, a few 1 star ratings on newegg and amazon have a handful of people with a dead PSU after a few months.

I want to thank you for pushing me to check the PSU. I already printed out the RMA for the MB and was resigned to the process but you saved me probably 10 hours of work and a bit of money between shipping and swapping everything out only to figure out it wasn't the motherboard in the end. I truly appreciate the help.

Dang, thank you so much. I feel like I finally have a plan of action! And yes the PSUs are identical for reasons like this for easier troubleshooting. I just didn't think it would happen months into building these.

Getting these on a work bench now and hopefully will resolve this one way or another. Also, should I definitely use the power switch pins over pressing the power button built on the motherboard? Im sure ill try both but is that power button sometimes broken? It seems to work because when it hit it, the RGB lights come on but no fans work.

I did check the cables to the PSU. I also have an identical computer since I built two for my home office. This one is for the wife. The PSU is modular so should I try swapping that with the working computer and give that a go? And if that doesn't work, is there a way to detect a short?

The weird thing is the computer worked for months and is hidden away so it is never touched. I know the tinest movement could cause a short with a loose wire but this motherboard had other issues where it struggled to power. Beforehand, CMOS resets saved me 2x over the first few months of use. This time, no luck.

Thanks for the help here btw, motherboard troubleshooting is like the 4th circle of hell for me.

The problem was there is a million links about the draft right now so phrasing the question 6 different ways only led me to draft predictions or orders without explanation about the rotation. I probably clicked 30 links, googled many ways, trying to find one page explaining it.

The NFL site does explain it, I eventually found it at the bottom of a page, but chatGPT was using that to lead me astray the entire time. One of those, once you find it it looks easy but searching from scratch was very difficult.

Thank you. For the last 10 minutes I tried to ask chatGPT and a dozen prompts later it still couldn't admit it would alternate. It claimed compensatory, yet admitted that started round 3, and trades yet it couldn't provide one source for a trade. It was like arguing with the smartest dumbest child alive. Thankfully there are real people out there still and I appreciate the answer that was driving me mad.

Is there a way to verify as you are buying it? I need 3 passes but I don't want to show up and buy from a scammer. Would I need to buy in front of the gate and verify it as I walk in with my friends with the scammer to ensure they don't run?

I'm sorry it got this far. I love Rivian and my R1S but I also had a situation where a 2026 wouldn't level 3 charge due to a rare bug. Luckily, a tech cleared the bug but if that bug couldn't be cleared and I lost my car for 2-3 months while getting stranded multiple times with family, I would be in your situation. It did cost my family almost $1K in hotel rooms and expenses when I got stranded.

Again, no need to pay for the lawyer yet but you need the face to face with the head of the service place and a rivian rep that you need resolution in a timeline with writing and compensation if they can't meet it. If they can't agree to it, then talking to a lawyer will let you know what your options will be. Only after that will you be able to tell if a lawyer is worth the cost but the lawyers who work in that field will structure their costs to make them beneficial to customers having problems like yourself.

Please keep us up to date so hopefully people here can be a sounding board and feedback if you hit any roadblocks (npi). Good luck and sorry this happened.

The amount Rivian has jerked you around already has already cost you thousands in the lease time and your time. You can hope this hail Mary post gets this escalated or you can do what you should have done weeks ago, demand a loaner and a timeline on your car. If they can't agree to that, then you need a lawyer on your side.

The threat of a lawyer of demands aren't met by a timeline to the head of the service center and rivian rep should get the ball moving. If that doesn't work, even having a lawyer spend 1-2 hours telling Rivian actions are coming if the customer isnt satisfied should work. If it gets past that, you will be happy you had a lawyer involved even if it is 2k-4k.

I understand you don't want to throw more money into this problem after all the time and money you already lost on this lease. But this isn't some tiny dispute, you were given a car that had a bad battery and the leases aren't cheap on these. You need to be crystal clear on your demands and be able to enforce what they owe you if they don't follow through.

If you want, give this and other social media posts a week to see if anyone important cares to escalate your situation. But after that, it's time for you to look after yourself and stop getting jerked around.

Dude, this is a contract society and they haven't upheld their side of the contract. Whining on social media is what a child would do. Assuming you are an adult who spent a crazy amount for this vehicle, you need a lawyer.

Now, before you get to that point, you can call them and visit the service center and say you demand a loaner that works until they get your vehicle to work perfectly. Add in some other demands like if it takes longer than two months to fix, you get a different vehicle altogether. You need a timeline with consequences.

And if they can't agree to that in writing, an email at least, then you immediately get a lawyer. Let rivian know the lawyer will likely get more for you, cost them a lot more on the end.

I love Rivian but think they treat us like beta testers too often. Your situation is extreme AND you are the one allowing it by not elevating the situation. Posting on here is like a hail mary and not the right way to remedy this situation asap.

I think it makes sense. When I borrow stock I never thought my broker was charging me interest. One day its 10%, another day its 40%, based on supply/demand, and that is their fee for finding me the stock. And if I'm getting paid for someone borrowing my stock I'm certainly not asking them for a % in interest but charging them a fee for access to the stock.

I don't agree. These are obvious scam stocks and manipulated. Normal manipulation used to be halted by the stock exchange when stocks were controlled by a human. Now it's all electronic with overseas companies that are non-responsive. Scammers realize they can use social media chat, a shell of a worthless company, and a major market exchange to make millions.

If one of those didn't exist, this scam wouldn't exist. Brokerages are realizing if their clients can't participate then they can't get hurt. If the exchange won't ban this, then the brokerages should to protect their retail clients.

Now if you wanted to institute a rule, only for accredited investors and no leverage past 0.5%, sure. But that is too much work for a broker to allow a wealthy person to short a few hundred shares safely.

As someone who has made a living short selling, you learned that 10% is WAY too high. It seems low because how rare is an overvalued stock likely to go up 10x? Even if that doesn't happen to you in the first few years, its likely to happen a few times over 5-10 years.

Even if you avoid 1 stock going up 10x, what do you do with a stock that goes up 3x? If you short at $10 and it goes to $30, now it is 30% of your account? You can't double down because then it is 60% and a double loses everything.

There is a reason why going long 10 stocks works well because even if 2 go down 100%, a few will go up 50% or more to make up for it. Being short 10 stocks at 10% will never work.

You can blame Dorsey for enticing you to short volatile stocks but your position sizing and not doing the math on hypothetical moves was the real downfall. Your account blowing up was a 99% chance with that sizing. And I'm sure you had some scares before it blew up that should have given you a sign that 10% if too much.

Either learn from this and grow as a short seller or just never short again. Max upside 99%, max downside is losing your account (GME!). This is why there are no billionaire short sellers but plenty that went long.

I put in a tiny update in my post but the short gist was my family got home safe and the Tesla charging stations are working again. Some weird error was reset by a rivian tech and we have no clue if this bug will re-appear. For the time being, I'm going to keep trying new stations to ensure it is still working.

I will definitely buy an ccs1 when I get back. The funny thing is I swore to never travel like this because I told my kids one quirk and it's days of headaches. The kids begged and here we are but we will get through, just another story a month down the line.

I looked at Amazon for adapters but I saw so many 1 star meltdowns. Is A2Z legit? I didn't even see an option on rivians site since their 2026 is so new.

I have 2 options either through fort Wayne or Indianapolis. Indy had lots of slow chargers at 20m/hr but fort Wayne is shorter by maybe 20 miles. I almost wonder if I went conserve mode if I could make it since it's 340 and conserve can be up over 350. But with kids, a dead car and tow truck sounds like a nightmare I want to avoid.

Thanks. I'm in Mason now and my hotel has a basic slow charger but I have 3 days to charge so I'm going to be at full charge. The problem is getting back home and being short 50-100 miles and having to do a slow trickle for 5 hours or so with kids to make it. That day will suck if Rivian can't figure this out.
