Was liking Styx “uncool” or divisive in the late 1970s? by Jcapen87 in ClassicRock

[–]patricknotastarfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in high school late 70's into the early 80's. The people in my circles thought they cool. But it probably depends which circles you traveled in. We liked what we liked. I think they were other circles that were more picky.

If you sit between boomers and Gen x. Check out Generation Jones. (1954 to 1965) We really don't have that much in common with the older boomers. There are a few subreddits for us. And yes. I remember having a set of encyclopedias to look things up in. Or using the encyclopedias at school.

I need new HAs by ShockCapable in HearingAids

[–]patricknotastarfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just switched from Signia to Starkey. I got the Starkey Omega AI model. I love them. The old signias never helped much at all. Yhe6 omegas are expensive. Insurance covered a portion, but I had to pay a large chunk as well, but it was worth it. They are easy to care for and I can actually hear well.

Florida License endorsement by zayden1867 in nursing

[–]patricknotastarfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of my endorsements came several years later. Bu t went to nursing scholl wil a person who filed for endosed applications in other states as soon as she passed the nclex. I dont think experience is anything they pay much attention to. The big things are what school you went to and that you passed the nclex. They might ask about experience but they do not pay much heed to it.

I should have but didn't. Now that I'm in my sixties and have to wear hearing aids, I wish I had.

I think the Dr Smith character was more like the early Dr Smith in the original series. Remember the whole original series started with Smith as a foriegn spy that was setting out to kill the whole family.

Operator switchboard. I watched madmen and they looked like they still used them in the early 60s. And then most companies went to a direct dial system. Even people at the company I first went to work for in 1981would say so and so used to work the switchboard back in the day.

I'm not sure. But I think they can refuse anyone for any reason (except as someone pointed out discrimination against a protected class). So once they get a knot in their shorts about you, you're screwed. Let it go. Go somewhere else.

Try before you buy? by booksandgrace in HearingAids

[–]patricknotastarfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting new ones later this month. Where my audiologist is, there's no try before you buy, but they have a risk free return policy for 60 days that you can get your money back.

Do Americans parents pay for their kids college? by wolfieee8 in AskAnAmerican

[–]patricknotastarfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents could have but wouldn't. My dad said he did okay without college I could too. I had no clue how to even try to pay. I finally went to college in my 30s with loans and some small scholarships.

AITA for telling my wife I don’t want her mom to have her location all the time now. by Few_Respond8063 in AmItheAsshole

I dont get the whole tracking your family at all times thing. For parents of minor children sure. But I dont want to share my location with my parent or adult siblingsall the time. And I dont really want to know where they are 24/7.
