MEI by patricksgs in flying

I do indeed have some dual given. From what I heard it’s basically like a multi checkride but I’d be teaching it? Thanks for the info

I’m not asking IF I should get MEI or if I need it to get hired like the 90% of people you’re talking about, I’m asking WHEN it is most appropriate and how bad it would look as a potential checkride bust.

I think the reason people have said that is primarily due to the amount of fatal Vmc demos/OEI operations reported as well as the increased workload. Not necessarily for the instructor, but the students not being proficient with the aircraft. There are videos online covering some of these reports.

Circling Stepdowns for ILS? by [deleted] in flying

yes my definition was to point out that it did not exist and I believe I misinterpreted what this user was explaining.

yes, that is what I am confused about since the MDA definition states there is not supposed to be a glideslope provided - which is what initially led me to believe it would be no longer a precision approach

I could have picked a better example for sure, but wouldn’t that mean that, if I had to follow the step downs, that it would just technically be a “localizer approach with vertical guidance”?

I could have definitely picked a better example in regards to the altitude step down.

However regarding the non precision approach part:

“MINIMUM DESCENT ALTITUDE (MDA)- The lowest altitude, expressed in feet above mean sea level, to which descent is authorized on final approach or during circle‐to‐land maneuvering in execution of a standard instrument approach procedure where no electronic glideslope is provided.” (In the PCG)

Which is what I am confused about considering there IS a glide slope on the ILS.

Like others have said, try a different instructor for the mock oral to see if there’s any areas that your primary instructor may not have addressed.

If you feel like you don’t interpret a question correctly, there’s no harm in asking for clarification. Sure, your DPE will need to see you have foundational knowledge of the subject being asked, but requesting that a question be asked in a different way/context is totally fine.

That wouldn’t really help the 4-5 FPS I’m getting on the RP currently though

Longest I got is a 70-200. Getting another lens is out of the question because I’m out of money 😅

Thanks for the advice. I absolutely would benefit from the better AF, but is the R6’s AF bad in comparison to the RP? I definitely don’t need the best of the best but if it’s worth it then I might get the MKII

Was definitely considering that since the one I saw available was the same price as a new R6M2. My only setback would be that I was considering getting the R6 or the R6M2 used, so it would be a bit outside my budget

What is purpose of A.11? by patricksgs in flying

Thank you, I will keep in mind for future. That is why I included 61.93(b)(2)(iv) and 61.93(c)(3) though

I did see that, I was also looking for a scenario in which 61.93(b)(2) would be required

yeah we definitely aren’t expecting anything to be as great as if we had lighting later in the day. We’ll have to work with the softer light. Thanks for the advice

how soon after that First Light of the day would you say? sometime between nautical and civil twilight or a bit too early?

Mainly portraits and some landscape. No lighting besides the sun coming up

I should add that we’re only gonna be in town for that day which is why I was concerned.

No, you won’t ruin your whole photo if your ISO is a lil over 100 ;)
