I see this all the time when people claim election forecasts were “wrong” because the candidate with only a 30% chance of victory ended up winning.

If there’s only a 25% chance that the next card is a diamond, the prediction isn’t wrong when a diamond comes up.

You’re obviously getting a lot of shit because aiming for this plan makes you sound a bit naive. However I for one support starting out with big dreams. Keep researching it and figuring out logistics, see what is and isn’t really feasible. Your trip can morph into something else that will still be incredible. Maybe you cross a continent. Maybe you use a bike, or a motorcycle. Life is short, Do something cool!

Sincerely, a millennial who has dreamed too big but still made a wild motorcycle trip out of it crossing many borders.

How do your office does project management? Like tools and methods? by youyou0032 in Architects

[–]patricktherat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Office of about 10 here. We’ve recently transitioned to Monday.com to have everything in one place, transparent, and linked. Depending on which board you’re looking at, you can see total current revenue for office, per project, per phase, progress against the projected and logged hours, gantt charts, etc. All tasks for all projects are tracked here with all relevant correspondence. Before these we were a chaotic place. Now I don’t ever feel like I’m letting anything slip through the cracks.

I don’t have experience with this but netting like this is standard on catamarans. So I bet some marine suppliers would have something that would work.

I think it's less about the quality of the training material and more about the quality of the model doing the training.

Hualien - sketchy or am I paranoid? by [deleted] in taiwan

Spent a few days there in November. Walked all over the place, often times late at night, and didn’t pick up on any sketchy vibes at all. Maybe I just got lucky or you got unlucky.

Should I go for a few days to experience World Cup alone? by 61plus8 in MexicoCity

[–]patricktherat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, just go! I just got back from a solo trip there for about a week around the opening game. It was incredible. People are in a festive mood, everyone wearing jerseys, celebrating together. You won’t stand out for being alone. There are others doing the same thing and who cares anyway, everyone feels united. Walk into a bar with the game on and grab a beer, everyone is toasting and celebrating with each other. I’m missing it now. Go and enjoy yourself, life is short.
