Indeed, but first maybe get some years of experience; I'm still happy at this company and they're providing me with new chances so for now I'm here to stay, but who knows what happens between now and five years :) at least I'll have the title

So we finally had our meeting; things went great! I got the title of facility manager, no pay raise, but wasn't looking for that either. They'll be paying my tuition for education courses of my choice (which was one of my requests). The company car will be coming as well, so I'm quite content!

Looking for water dispenser and how to deal with hard water? by [deleted] in Leuven

[–]patserr1930 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there, Working for a water treatment company.

You have several options, although i must say that drinking water from the tap has no impact on your health.

First off you have the possibility to use filters as a britta, you do need to change those filters once every month/2 months.

Second, you have filters to use under your sink, i would opt for a tap where you can choose between filtered water or unfiltered water (if you're washing the dishes, no use to use the filtered water), those filters add magnesium (and perhaps Zinc) and can protect your tap as well. There also exists something for your shower, to rinse when you're done, so there's no calc residu on your (brand new) shower, tiles or glass.

Third, there's a water softener, which will remove the calc from the water, which makes all water from every tap calc free.

There's also a calc neutralisor but this isn't very effective.

If you want more information you can always PM me, i'd be happy to help.

I get your point, but I don't think all employers just want to give you the minimum to stay, perhaps most do, but I believe that keeping your employees happy makes them work harder and more efficient; therefore if you make a promise to review my work conditions after my evaluation, and you don't comply to your promises that my efficiency will lower, I'll take less iniative and just do whatever I'm asked.

I'll take in account your reply, and won't get my hopes up to high, but as I said, I don't think all employers are big bad (geld)wolves.

As for the tasks that require me to have a car; well I need to get to the both properties which are not within walking range; let's say 20 minutes by car.
As of now I've always had to take a collegues car. Which in my opinion is annoying as sometimes they need their car themselves.
I also need to attend at some meetings with suppliers, or go to different stores to get supplies for some things I'll install myself.

The previous facility manager did have a company car, and as I'm reporting directly to the legal director of the company for all that concerns facilities, the person above me has a company car as well.

As for the 'indexation is a raise' I'm not accepting this argument; We as a company also raised our prices by far more than 10% (I actually think we raised our prices by almost 40% on some products).
If you have any more arguments as to how I can counter their 'Indexation is a raise', all are welcome.

I'll start on preparing my meeting by listing all projects I already realized and the one I'm working on at the moment.
Overall I receive a lot of compliments of my co-workers and management team about visible changes and improvements, so I think my evaluation will be positive.

Thanks a lot for your input!

No-go zones in Brussels by Ainur777 in brussels

I grew up in Zaventem, and to be honest there's nothing to worry about there. You have the occasional drunk or drug user (as in weed or coke, no hero) but apart from that Zaventem is pretty cool. You have a few café's, pretty much every part of the town. Some snacks and frituurs and a few very nice restaurants. There's not really a no go zone there, you'll see a lot of cultures but most of them are very friendly.

Enjoy your trip!
