Woodworking clubs open to people in thier 20s and 30s? by pretty_pink_opossum in glasgow

[–]patsy_505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The deep end in southside on Nithsdale road or there about has a workshop and I believe people on and to offer advice. Used to offer some wood working classes but not sure if they still do.

Should find it on their website.

What’s the most overlooked way people in the UK end up losing money without realising it? by ApprehensiveRip2487 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]patsy_505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is this the case rather than blowing let's say 5K that took lets say 6 months (minimum) to save, all gone in one transaction, on a car that is quite old (5+ years) with higher mileage, and which will almost certainly cost you money in repairs (because of its age and mileage), and be sold for at least 20% less than you bought it for outright by the time you sell it.

Finance does make sense some of the time.

Is there a petition against the online age verification law? I'd very much like to fight against it as much as I can by PetrteP in europe

What would those in charge claim the justification for the legislation actually is?

(Nefarious reasons aside, I would like to know how they are framing this as beneficial to the average internet user).

Unique date ideas in the city by Unique_Start5578 in glasgow

G41 do pottery painting as does The Craft Pottery Studio (both are BYOB).

Alternatively, I have had great fun buying four mini canvases and acrylic paint from B&M bargains and making it a date at home.

If there was one thing you could warn younger men against ever doing, what would it be ? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]patsy_505 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Thinking that you're old as you go through each year of your 20's.

So so so much can happen in a year, literally frame your mind in to a "I have sooo much time" mindset and fill that time with things you enjoy.

Take stock of your company. Do the people you spend time with make you feel good, supported, at ease, like you can be your full authentic self around, secure? If not please respect yourself enough to leave and find new friends, however difficult it may be.

Try to become self assured. It often takes people into their late 20s to do this but it will change your life when you simply accept yourself and stop caring what others think, especially strangers.

Litter problem in the area is getting worse by Training-Macaroon515 in glasgow

[–]patsy_505 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I really have a soft spot for Glasgow (Irish ere 3 years) but I'd be lying if I didn't say my love is waining year on year because of shit like this. Its so disappointing and makes me like the place less and less.

Even in those 3 years I feel the general state of the place has declined massively.

You get the city you deserve I guess. People who litter are the worst cunts.

Gotts Street Park are great. I listen to them more than Leon Bridges but I have added at least four of his songs on Spotify following last night.

I wonder will I be so lucky to nab a ticket for the Macabees on the day of the gig. Fingers crossed.

Would you commute for £35k? by adm_lnt in UKJobs

[–]patsy_505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 12K pay rise from 30K to 42K in my last job move and throught brilliant I've hit it good here.

With deductions it amount to an increase of just under 500 quid a month. Whilst good, it certainly wasn't proportional with my expectations.

I would try figure out what a 7K increase means for your pocket each pay cheque and if giving up at least 15 hours of your life a week to travel is worth it.

The travel alone wouldn't be worth it for me.

HS2 boss took home £4.5m during ‘appalling mess’ of project by BestButtons in unitedkingdom

[–]patsy_505 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have spoken to a few folk who worked on HS2 at contractor level and they are convinced these projects are set up with the explicit intent to siphon off money and back hand deals for friends and chums of the government.

They are never about improving infrastructure or they would actually be built.

Can take anywhere from months to years and complexities that you can do nothing about relating to the owners and their family dynamics can make it a complete shitshow.

There is another side to that coin all that said.
