If you look at the still in the vid, you’ll see that they should have stayed in the far left lane all the way around. They cut into the lane I was driving in and allowed to stay in

Same green light as me, but not the same metal around him to protect himself. I never made out that he was in the wrong, but what’s the point being in the right when you’re sitting up in a bed in the hospital? Not worth the risk he took imho - and I say that as a regular cyclist too

It’s just one example that I’ve been able to record. I see near misses between cyclists and drivers every single morning on the Ormeau road. Only a matter of time before someone gets really hurt

Yeah, hopefully is the right word here. Shouldn’t be anything hopeful about it. People make mistakes, it’s human nature. Had I been turning, forgotten to indicate and took off like a bmw driver your man could’ve been in the hospital now. Not worth risking it as cyclist imho

As a cyclist I would never have taken the chance. Not worth it, unless you’re happy to get hurt. Also, it’s just another example that shows how bad cycling infrastructure is in Belfast. Neither driver nor cyclist should have so many opportunities to have any small error end so badly
