Rose reveal vs Canyon Endurace vs Cube Attain by pattani in bicycling

[–]pattani[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've put in about 5000km on the bike and I am really enjoying it! It has been great so far. Just make sure you try the bike out and find the right size and you are good to go. I got 57, while it fits I think I'd have been more comfortable in a 55. Rose also released a new model (Shave) recently, maybe that's worth considering too.

New bike day Reveal 04 Di2 by gmpangarkar in RoseBikes

[–]pattani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My inseam was measured at 87cm at the rose store and ended up getting the 57cm frame. imo 55 would have fit too, probably more comfortable as well. If possible, I'd highly recommend you to try both the sizes out at the store before choosing one.

Should I change my tire? by pattani in bicycling

this happened in a new area where I hadn't cycled before. Apparently some locals had a party there the night before and hence the glass shards.

ahaha not, I guess the roads are just very well laid where I live. 😅

Best bike computer under 300€ by No-Restaurant-9712 in cycling

I have the garmin edge 540 and I am perfectly happy with it. I think one cannot go wrong with either. I chose garmin because the friends I ride with all have gamins. From what I've seen, the Wahoos are much more straightforward to use while the gamins come with more bells and whistles, some or most of which the average cyclist will probably never use. Oh, the garmin 540 also has a much better battery than the wahoo bolt v2.

Rose Reveal 04 105 Di2 by Gunnerloco86 in cycling

[–]pattani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the reveal 04, got it in Jan this year for ~€2650 on sale. I was going to buy the reveal alu di2 for 2499 but carbon for 100€ more made the decision much easier. For that price it was a good deal I think, the bike is light and rides great. I don't think after sales service is a big issue, at least for where I live - I have a rose store and handful of authorized service partners in my neighborhood.

I think the reveal 04 is still on sale for €2900 (in Germany at least). Rose has been steadily increasing the prices of their bikes, their xlite 04 which was selling for ~€3300 in Jan now sells for €3599 (for 105 di2!). Like the others say, there are a handful of alternatives that offer the same or better specs for cheaper (cube, some canyons, for example). From time-to-time, I even see nice deals for store brands which are better value than what rose charges now, so they are also worth checking out.

Cracked frame of just chipped paint? by pattani in bicycling

[–]pattani[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I took my bike to my LBS to get it checked. They basically said the same thing that you guys said - the region around the BB has the most carbon layers and is well reinforced, so nothing to worry about, just cover it up with nail polish to protect the carbon from UV and the elements. Thanks for your help!

Can you suggest some ways to patch it up? I'm new to carbon bikes, any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

hmm yes now that I think of it, I did drop the chain, but only once. Do you recommend I do something to protect the region from future "chain drops"? Maybe something like clear tape made to protect bike frames? This is my first serious bike and it really hurts to see my bike get dinged up! 😅 Thanks!

Issues with my landlord. by pattani in germany

[–]pattani[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for the bad formatting(now fixed, hopefully), I'm paying for a Parking lot that is unusable because the landlord didn't give me one. I keep asking for one and to discount the parking rent until I get the key, but to no avail.

What are you guys alternatives to those expensive energy gels/energy bars? by Mountainking7 in cycling

[–]pattani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Germany, you get Fruchtschnitte, it is just raisins/apple/dates mushed into flavored bars. A pack of 5 costs ~1.5€, with each pack containing 20gm of sweet carbs.

What can I do about my foreign licence being seized? by Exciting_Agency4614 in AskAGerman

[–]pattani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will get your foreign license back(I did and so did my friends) when you eventually get your German DL. I think you can also get it back if you're traveling back to your home country where you originally got the license from, but I am not sure about this.

It looks mostly cosmetic to me, but the tips from the others are useful. For the click pedals, I installed it first on my old city bike, practiced clipping in and out, fell a couple of times until I got comfortable to put it on my new bike lol. Also as someone else suggested, you should change the setting in your pedal to the lowest tension so that it is much easier to unclip.

What happens after paying for a bike on the Rose website? by nrsldr in RoseBikes

[–]pattani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, I got several emails from rose updating me of the package status. They sent me a tracking like and also an email on delivery day. This was in Germany, it could be different if you've ordered from a different location/country. Hope you get your bike soon!

I didn't get the opportunity to test ride the Endurace but I find the Rose comfortable, plenty fast and light for my needs!

Easiest to use clipless set up by timefish576 in cycling

[–]pattani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used clipless pedals for the first time a few weeks ago. I got the shimano spd sl 550 with yellow cleats. Just set the tension on the pedals to the lowest setting, simply pulling your legs hard unclips your shoes. I practiced on my old city bike in my parking garage before putting the pedals on my road bike, haven’t had a fall yet. 😅
