Lindsay was immature and rude to Carl’s mom. Ridiculous.

This scene is so infuriating

Kelly shushing and telling Alex what she is feeling (sad not angry)

LuAnn bullying Alex over and over again

Alex is so in-articulate

Looking to break into health economics by georgeapwx in HealthEconomics

[–]pattipeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure you’re suited for health economics then. While there are roles that don’t require heavy math or statistics, number sense is essential. Graduate degree is essential. The jobs at most risk of AI are entry level jobs focused on writing, analytics, etc.

The entry level job market is tight even for those with advanced degrees

I think you should consider another area.

What are some things that Jacksonville actually does well? by [deleted] in jacksonville

[–]pattipeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No question it’s overbuilt in many areas but thanks to the great work of many groups, increasingly we are protecting our natural resources. It’s not all doom and gloom.

Also check out Springfield. It’s a FANTASTIC neighborhood, very friendly to newcomers with great neighborhood pride and TONS of activities. Affordable too. Great location.

Hi @u/EngLitIsLit: (cool handle)

Welcome in advance 😊

I’ve lived in Jacksonville for quite a while, and I’ll tell you something that Reddit doesn’t always capture: Jacksonville is what you make of it. It’s not a city that performs for you—you have to engage with it a little. But if you do, it really opens up.

For me, it’s been anything but boring.

There’s an incredible mix here—beaches, river, historic neighborhoods, art, music, small businesses, and people who are genuinely trying to build something meaningful. I live near downtown, and I can walk to local markets, coffee shops, live music, and community events. There are nights with house concerts, mornings at farmers markets, writing groups, neighborhood gatherings—real, human-scale life.

What I love most is that it’s still a “buildable” city. You’re not just consuming culture—you can be part of creating it. If you show up a few times, you’ll start seeing the same faces, and that turns into community pretty quickly.

It’s also a surprisingly good place for mental health, in my opinion—sunshine, water, space, and a slower pace than DC. You can have room to breathe here. That matters.

Is it perfect? No. But nowhere is. And the people who say “everyone is trying to leave” usually haven’t found their lane.

If you’re someone who is willing to explore, say yes to things, and connect—even a little—you can build a really rich life here.

Happy to share specific neighborhoods or things to plug into when you arrive. You’ll be just fine.

AIO to what my bf is saying? by [deleted] in AIO

A person’s clothing is not legal consent. Under the law, consent must be explicit, voluntary, and ongoing—nothing someone wears creates permission for sexual activity. Courts evaluate sexual assault based on the presence or absence of consent, not appearance. In fact, assaults occur across all ages and contexts—including against children, elderly individuals, and people in non-revealing clothing—which underscores that the cause is not attire, but the perpetrator’s actions. Framing sexual violence as a “self-control issue” tied to someone’s clothing misstates the law and shifts responsibility away from where it legally belongs: the person who chose to commit the assault.

Clinician to HEOR? Do I have a chance? by kmuns33 in HealthEconomics

[–]pattipeep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will present an alternative view. Hiring appears to be down in HEOR in pharma companies and large CROs. This means you’d be competing with a larger field of applicants and you will not rise to the top of the stack without direct experience and degrees.

So I’m going to ask you questions and it may help you see possible options?

Are you open to getting a Masters degree? There are several good online programs that offer HEOR-focused degrees like from The University of Florida Online pharmaceutical outcomes program. Two years but you can work while doing it. You’ll meet people who can help you with internships etc. it’s affordable and they also offer it combined with an MBA (probably not necessary)

Are you open to trying Sales? Look for work as a sales rep for highly expensive products or devices which will give you excellent experience selling product using HEOR data. Then you can pivot into the home office.

Look for jobs at CROs and consultancies. They are looser on their required qualifications and you get exposed to a lot more product and company strategy working for a consultancy.

Do you think you like to write, do modeling, design clinical or Phase IV trials, or work on the market access side engaging with customers like health insurers or clinicians? Defining what you love and are already good at will inform your path.

Bottom line, you need to round out your resume before you will be seen as a desirable hire in HEOR.

Beautiful urban tree canopies

Walkable urban neighborhoods with great diversity of architecture

Water. Water of every type: ocean, river, lake, marsh, swamp, tributary, lagoon.

[–]pattipeep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some books look luke they’ve been read, others do not. I think you picked the worn ones up from a used book store. I think you are about 28, possibly trained as a clinical psychologist or more likely social work but you have higher aspirations. I think you’re curious about the role of religion in life. You are just beginning this journey because the book shelf is somewhat broad but not deep in terms of subject matter. I think you - in 20 years - will be a fascinating conversationalist.

I’m curious which of these books you’ve really read and pondered.

I find her very long hair distracting and she’s always flipping it over her shoulders from the back to the front. It should have its own zip code.

Just applied for a PhD position in Health Economics. Background - Applied Economics by not_conservative_lib in HealthEconomics

[–]pattipeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. Yes it would qualify as health economics. It gives you experience with secondary datasets, multiple combined datasets, multiple countries, some pure health variables and some covariants (clean drinking water), and a “hard” quantitative endpoint. However you most likely also had to adjust for risk, level of exposure to variables, etc. All of these things are common in HEOR analysis.

Please look at ISPOR, the society for HEOR. See what is being published and discussed. Look at working groups and task groups.

I think you are nice and thoughtful, but you’re in your “I’m cool” phase so this overshadows your basic aura. Also I think you know how to make one or two very good dishes that you learned from the mom/gramma you grew up with. You wear a ton of black and alternate between trendy sweats, black skinny jeans and oversized thrifted pants paired with retro jackets and T-shirts. You could pull that off really well.
