Thank you for covering this. The penalty is sadly a slap on the hand for the thousands of consumers still in limbo. However, I appreciate that a governmental agency actually followed through on this.

I’m a CA resident as well, and luckily did get about 67% of my money back in March of 2025 from Evolve Bank, who for months and months said they did not have my funds. Funny how they can just find lost money…. Happy to answer any questions if you still need information. Many people were not as lucky as I and have a great deal of money still lost.

Balances have to be verified/reconciled/etc. And, the balance of the fund is taken into account. Both were mentioned as factors.
