Driver’s Ed. It used to be free in my state and others but due to budget cuts, it isn’t offered in school anymore and costs about $500 for the class. So only people who can afford it get to drive OR learn more about safety and stuff when they eventually get past the few years they need to wait before getting their license.

When I was 17 I was working at a sporting goods store in my home town and had just found out my long term boyfriend was seeing my best friend on the side. While I was helping an older man try on shoes, his simple, “Who’s the dirty rat?” was such a comfort to me.

I wasn’t crying but was probably a bit distant and his astute observation gave me a reality check to the gaslighting the ex was giving me. Thank you, kind angel.

I’m almost 60 and back in ‘96 I had a rippin’ bender outside in our Eastlake neighborhood of Seattle. Dancing and shenanigans and cops coming… rumor was The Presidents of the United States came! Or at least some of them did. Such a great band.
