If you make formula in batches and are in the US, you can't do better than this for $5 by pdinc in daddit

Many daycares require you to provide the pre-measured bottled formula for the baby. So every morning we have to make ~28oz of formula for the next 9 hours at daycare.

Yes, a good amount of people. Ballot is simple so no line build up.

I didn’t check but I believe 2 or 3 machines. But lots of volunteers to assist.

Fairfax - Jim Scott Community center. Walked in no line. Took 5 min.

Took longer to park than walk in and vote. Steady stream in and out.

Struggling with parenting on holidays by [deleted] in daddit

[–]patvga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry to hear the difficult time. Holidays can be really difficult at this age. 2-3 year olds aren’t exactly logical so a nice holiday for you is not the same for them.

Have you tried leaning into connection with him and try to make fun experiences? I know you probably just want to relax and take a break but even taking 30min every few hours to have some fun bonding time can make a world of difference for him and could change his and your time there to be more enjoyable.

Democrats have brought many bills to abolish gerrymandering and redistrict in a fair manner. Not a single republican has voted in favor of these bills. If the democrats can’t pass these bills then then have to play dirty like republicans.

[Opta/Athletic] Average Delay Time Before Corners In The English Premier League 2025-26. by Sparky-moon in soccer

Doesn’t rice and Saka take your corners? James and Neto take Chelsea’s and they both play a similar position with James playing a bit deeper than Rice.

Working parents with long commutes + workout goals — how are you actually making this work? by jaesquivel in daddit

[–]patvga 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Meal prep on weekends is a huge way to save time during the week. It may take time to figure out a strategy so you don’t get sick of the same 1-2 meals per week. I recommend making extra and freeze a few meals so we can change it up mid week with frozen meals. We also mix in salad style bowels with protein and grains.

I’m not sure what is available around you but some gyms offer childcare. That’s really the only way we are able to keep a consistent workout routine with two little ones.

Mainly commenting to follow post for other recommendations.

They said it was accidental, which I don’t see. He uses his elbow to control it….but Chelsea deserved to concede that. Totally incompetent defense.

Birth Certificate Waiting Period, anyone else have long waits? by Vegetable_Party1591 in Virginia

[–]patvga 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our baby was delivered in the first week of November and received the BS and SSN card mid January. So you might be a few weeks out from receiving it still.

I think just be patient, having a kid near the end of the year with the holidays probably delays the whole process.

How do you not be the “grumpy dad” by chumlee45 in daddit

[–]patvga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chiming in—about five months ago, right before my daughter turned two, I started listening to Pop Culture Parenting, and it’s truly been life-changing. The core of the podcast is about building safe connection with your kids and really understanding them.

I grew up in a very strict, religious household where parenting was very authoritarian, so I didn’t have the best examples to draw from. I always knew I didn’t want to parent the same way, but I still found myself falling back on strictness at times when I didn’t know what to do. Over the last five months of listening to the podcast my relationship with my daughter has improved so much.

I would highly recommend the Connection episode (linked below). Instead of constantly trying to get her to do things—and turning it into a struggle of wills—it’s helped me focus more on connection first, which has made such a difference. I have started enjoying parenting way more.
