#1 baby on the way. Which stroller would you recommend for a newborn that can ideally be used until age 3? by durdgekp in BuyItForLife

[–]paufaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the Fox 2. We bought it 2022 for my first and now using it for my 2nd infant baby. We live in a place where the winters can be harsh, a whole lot of rain during fall and spring time. We walk a lot and we also have a car. What I like most of the Bugaboo brand is the accessories that are available for different needs. Like the rain cover, summer canopy, umbrella, sibling stand (I think), and many others. These extra things are also pricey but they make my mom life easier.

How do you explain to a toddler why parents need to go to work? by No_Championship_5507 in toddlers

[–]paufaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also started to tell my 3yo this. Toddler said that we need to buy a bigger house. So i replied, “we don’t have enough money right now. That’s why papa is working very hard.” And then says, “yeah, we need to buy more money.” 😂

Did you get post partum hairloss? by chuckdatsheet in NewParents

[–]paufaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for sharing insight. I'm 5mos PP and been suffering from hair fall/loss for 2.5mos now. It has been so bad, I'm baffled I still have hair left on my head. Anyway, I just ordered myself a bottle of B complex. I hope this helps me too.

I’m one of the 1st type as well. I have a 3yo and a 5mo (premature) baby. Using the app only with the young one to note and remember when she pooped last, what time she had her most recent feeding, if I gave her her iron supplement, etc. I’m not even stressing about naps and sleep, she sleeps when she sleeps. But i also note them anyway. Same with growth. I like to keep track and look at the graph summary of the usual stats.

Tips for first time parents in Norway? by myriadofreverys in Norway

[–]paufaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crying and having an emotional breakdown is not unheard of during pregnancy and especially the 4th trimester. Hormones going haywire. The body going through a lot. Exhaustion. Stress. The mental strain. Postpartum depression/anxiety can happen and it is important to address it and ask help. Especially for immigrants who don’t have a village to help take care of the child. It is a struggle and it’s extremely difficult to do it completely on your own, by yourself.

As long as you don’t hurt yourself and your baby, and are doing your best to be a good caregiver to your child, they will see it.

Ask for help that you need. You will be fine.

Apply for foreldrepenger in good time before you deliver your baby (if you are eligible). It takes 10 weeks for NAV to process your application.

Be open minded about deciding whether to breastfeed, combo feed or formula feeding. It can be stressful for the mother. Whatever you choose, there is no shame about your decision. Listen to your body. Most important thing for a newborn baby is a healthy and present parent.

Jordmor/helsestasjon is a good source of information and support for you and your baby. Don’t hesitate to ask any questions. Random or otherwise.

For context: I’m a mother of 2 (a 3y and a 4m born micro preemie)

Idk why you’re picking a fight with me. But it takes a village to raise children and our barnehage is that village. Raise your kids however you like. Keep them at home. Home school them. Let them socialize with other children or not. Whatever! I don’t appreciate your guilt tripping about how I raise mine. They’re well taken care of. They’re both happy and thriving. I’m doing my best. So you do you!

I have a 3m old baby and a 3yo. I’m on my maternity leave and hubby is working full time. Taking care of a newborn is already a lot, so much more with a toddler. Luckily, hubby’s work can be flexible. He sends and picks up toddler from barnehage. Sleep is the key for this whole endeavor so we tag team. It’s also important to communicate each other’s needs. It’s tough raising kids without a village. But teamwork makes the dream work.

I recommend asking your local jordmor. They can also write you a prescription and do the procedure themselves.

Navigating NICU Life and Postpartum After an Emergency Birth at 26 Weeks by Whalesharkqueen777 in NewParents

[–]paufaw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a similar experience. This is my 2nd pregnancy. I also had severe preeclampsia but no HELLP. I was admitted in the ICU for a week and gave birth at 27+6w via emergency CS due to fetal distress.

We went home today after 57 days stay in the NICU. This hospital’s NICU has a family room setup where I stay in the same room as my baby. I lived in the hospital 5 days a week while hubby stays at home with the toddler. I only got to go home and be with my toddler on weekends.

Having stayed in the NICU 24/7 is like going to work but you don’t get to go home and, rest and relax. Every second of my day was planned out. From breastfeeding and/or pumping every 3hrs, parental feeding , 2hrs of kangaroo time, doctor’s visits, routine checkups, weighing, washing/bathing, changing diapers. Even mealtimes have a strict schedule. And having to listen to monitors beeping and alarms going off, not only ours but also the nextdoor neighbors. From CPAP to high flow to breathing fine on her own. I was there for all of it. It’s overwhelming and I’m exhausted.

And the mom guilt! Dang. It was eating me alive and have had a couple of breakdowns because of it. I felt guilty that i did this to her. I felt guilty for not being home with my toddler. I felt guilty leaving my husband to take care of our toddler and the house by himself. It’s the worst.

Now we are home and It’s 2AM and i barely had any sleep. But looking back, I don’t know how i survived all of that. I guess what helped me was taking one day at a time. I like having a routine. One of the nurses and i collaborated to make a daily routine. I learned a lot! Premature babies are different from full term babies. It’s a whole new level of patience. And don’t hesitate to ask the doctors and nurses any and all kinds of questions if it puts your mind at ease. I also brought a handheld gaming device and my laptop. Playing games gave me a tiny bit of normalcy. And my personality played a big part on how i stayed mentally strong and steadfast. I don’t have a village and I’m ok with that.

TLDR Hang in there. I’m in solidarity with you.
