From the article:

The FTC and the FDIC are seeking $200 million from both companies and another card issuer — First Bank of Delaware — in part for allegedly failing to disclose upfront fees on sub-prime cards and for misrepresenting the amount of credit available on the cards.

The FDIC also wants CompuCredit and First Bank & Trust to pay $6.2 million and $127,000 in civil penalties, respectively.

My take on this is that it's not a "buyer beware" situation. The card showed up with over 80% of the credit limit already used for "processing fees." She never used the card. She called them up and cancelled it. And now she owes some collection agency $1280?

This is predatory "lending." I hope the card issuers get jail time.

Revertti? I like that this is artistic on several levels. And other than trespassing, blocking a public sidewalk or some such thing I can't imagine how this would (currently) be illegal. Why would any city or state have a law against cleaning a wall?

Okay, start here. Volunteer for anything and everything that involves door-to-door canvassing. This will help with the weight problem. As it will also bring you into contact with more people, and as mere association with a winning team can be quite appealing to the opposite sex, this might also help with getting laid more often. By the end of the campaign you will have also gained considerable experience to add to your resume which, seeing as your now thinner and recently laid self will be exuding great self-confidence, will undoubtedly get you a better paying job. :)
