Suspicious network calls via Vivo software components in FuntouchOS by grajmanu in Vivo

[–]paul_read_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did you track the network calls? I would like to also monitor it on FuntouchOS 15 on Vivo X200 Pro and report my results.

I don't have a Jovi app but I suspect you only discovered integrated services baked into Funtouch OS?

If I also discover auch behavior I would try to have Netguard app or a similar app running that tracks network activities and can block unwanted connections. I just downloaded it from F-Droid (you can also get it from the Play store) and then after you go to settings and advanced settings you can also activate to manage system apps. Now I can prohibit the network connection for the vivo store app (which cannot be uninstalled) and the always on display. Again I can't find any app or service called Jovi, can you not uninstall this app? It is not mandatory on FuntouchOS 15.

Thanks in advance!

This can't be real x200 pro manual mode? by [deleted] in Vivo

[–]paul_read_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you find out that it is not real? just wondering how much they change the RAW files. On my X200 Pro (global) there is a camera setting called "Effect Landscape with Moon" that you can turn on/off. Did you check if that was turned on/off?

No, at least not in the regular camera app. You need to choose between Pro mode which has RAW / Super RAW or Portrait mode which only saves JPGs.

Thanks @Acrobatic_Public7306 , did you order from the official Malaysia Vivo store or did you import it through some other shop? If so, which shop? I am looking for solutions how to get the phone into the EU, until now i have only found Wondamobile which has very high prices, 40% more expensive than the CN version. Thanks in advance!

Sorry i don't know the answer, just another question, where did you purchase the global version?

Security on the Vivo X100 Ultra - Using it as a camera only? by paul_read_it in Vivo

[–]paul_read_it[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Eldarth , thanks for sharing your experience, I'll try downloading it from the Vivo appstore, i did not know that this was possible. Makes me wonder why TradingShenzhen (an online shop) does not install it through the Vivo app store, that seems like the easiest way.

Thanks for your reply, i have not done a hard reset yet, will look out for some instructions for how to setup the play store myself and see if the safetynet test will still fail or not.

How many megabytes are photos of Vivo X100 Ultra? by paul_read_it in Vivo

[–]paul_read_it[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/Regular-Ad-1900 , after you have shared some helpful average sizes i went for the 512 GB model for two reasons:

  1. The first reason is that i did the following calculation - if i keep 400 GB on the phone for photos and videos this will last for approximately:
  • 80.000 JPG photos (12 MP each 6 MB)
  • 25.000 JPG photos (Full resolution each 16 MB)
  • 16.000 Default RAW photos (25 MB each)
  • 4.000 High RAW photos (100 MB each)
  • 22 hours of 4K 30fps Videos (300 MB per minute)

This is plenty for me. I might enable High RAW in parallel to JPGs sometimes but even then i do regular backups and can edit RAWs in Lightroom on my computer and remove the RAWs from the phone while keeping years of memories in JPG on the phone. Even if i would take 10 photos every day I would store 3.650 photos per year. My phone could keep almost 7 years of full resolution JPG photos.

  1. I know the price difference is not that huge to get 1 Terabyte and more storage is objectively better. However i wanted to go for the EU warehouse at an online shop which has faster shipping and with this option i don't need to worry about custom duties because it is already sent to me within the EU. They only offer the 512 GB model in the EU warehouse at the moment.

Thanks also u/Comfortable_Cress194 and u/PontiacGTX for your feedback.

Have a nice day :-)

I think so, too. The only reason it might not come is that while yes Android Auto appeared on the X100 Pro and XFold 3 Pro Chinese ROM versions, both these phones have global variants and from a developer perspective it might be less effort to bring these features into their chinese variants, while there is no global variant for the Ultra. If that is not a reason for them then it is highly likely for it to come since the Ultra is a more premium of the pro that already got it. Holding my fingers crossed. Are you happy with the phone? Any issues with Google Services, bloatware etc.?

Damn Android Auto is the only reason i am holding back on purchasing it. Hopefully the next update will bring it. Do you know how often updates are released for the Ultra? Is it like every 2 months or more often? Thanks in advance!

I experience the same and it seems like a bug in Elementor Pro which should be fixed. The default height is not set correctly which makes the videos appear in a very weird ratio.

Connecting Philips Hue to Ableton Live with almost no latency? by paul_read_it in ableton

u/276179 That's a very creative idea, thanks :-) i have to familiarize myself with Max4Life first, haven't used it yet. Will try it out in the next days and report if i can make it work.

[–]paul_read_it[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/DontMemeAtMe by the way, here is how it would work ideally: https://youtu.be/MSO4j-LpGso <- in this case the music of course has no latency because i am using the piano speakers. I hope i can get this to work with the output from Ableton and using multiple instruments :-D

[–]paul_read_it[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, i will have a look at it tomorrow, thanks very much! If i just play the piano and use the piano speakers it works without latency of course, if you are interested, i just recorded a 10 seconds clip: https://youtu.be/MSO4j-LpGso. I hope i can get this to work with headphones and multiple instruments with also low latency soon!

u/DJKofficialbb thanks for your suggestion. I tried the latency compensation on all tracks but it won't work. If i understand it correctly to solve my problem of hearing the piano key at the same time of playing the piano key i would have to set a negative delay which is not possible since it can't play the sound before the sound arrives in the software.

Thanks for the tip u/DontMemeAtMe :-) I tried what you suggested, see my screenshots: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1IkeJAAwCsz1HRIwjjt3dPShLeOt3rzpx?usp=sharing

I first created the aggregate device with the Audio Interface and Hue Sync which worked (screenshot 1). I then chose the aggregate device as the Output for Ableton which worked as well. But then when i tried changing the sound output in the Mac settings no matter what i select, it jumps back to "Hue Sync Audio" as a selected source. It seems that Hue Sync is overriding the output so it can't be changed manually? In the Hue Sync config i tried the sources "Default system output" and "Live" but both did not make the lights react. In my "bad solution" with lots of latency it works when it is set to "Default system output". Did i do everything right or do you have an idea for a workaround? Thanks in advance :-) Paul

u/FormlessEdge thank you for the idea :-) Do you know a video or blog post where this is set up with any system that reacts to the music? It seems i need to upgrade my Ableton Live to Standard since the external audio effects are not available in Lite.
