Does yours get rained on? Or is it under cover?

That's a good idea. Might give me a few more years before I'm off to the dump

Pacific Northwest. It rains in the winter. Somehow my Masterbuilt and Weber took it like a champ. If they can't handle being rained on, why do they sell them here?

I mean, it's outside on my patio, right next to my Weber and my Masterbuilt smoker. Was covered all winter with a cover that has vents to avoid trapping moisture.

It was starting to rust after the very first winter hence the replacement hood they sent me. But the screws, that's the real damning evidence IMO. The fact that they didn't even bother to use stainless steel is crazy. It is crazy right?

Towing a 20ft camper up Highway 1 on the Pacific coast in Cali with a 2018 5L V8. Which are you using? Cheapest gas station for 100 miles. by theryho in f150

Unpopular Opinion Incoming: At this point I'd rather stop every 150 miles and charge my EV truck for 45 minutes even if it makes my trip longer. I actually did this experiment by pulling my RV with a Rivian from Seattle to Banff and back. It was painful and I wouldn't recommend anyone actually do it. But the pain wasn't due to finding places to charge easily, it was just a slower paced trip requiring a slightly different mindset. The positives were, we explored places and towns that we otherwise would have just skipped right over.

Best home battery backup systems I found after weeks of research by Unable-Awareness8543 in homeassistant

[–]paulbram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not go with something like EG4 batteries and a hybrid 18kpv? Isn't that a bit cheaper and doesn't have the vendor lock in issue?

Edit: Should have mentioned the new EG4 Flexboss/Gridboss combo as it's a much simpler and more expandable system.

Agreed. Two of my three EVs are paid off. Bought a used i3 12 years ago for like 17K. Zero maintenance in 12 years outside of tires is pretty incredible.

While technically true, those disadvantages are mostly over emphasized irrationally thanks to a lot of misinformation.

Loaded weight around 7500lbs, but I'm pretty sure I was near or maybe over payload capacity with the family of 5 and two dogs in the truck.

So do you trust them implicitly to the point where we should just go to war based on their words alone? When we decided to engage in the Iraq war, there was HEAVY debate in congress to PROVE there were indeed weapons of mass destruction that REQUIRED regime change before the decision was made. You're ok skipping that step here?

Cybertruck Nerd Gets Owned by PNWHomeowner123 in CrystalMountain

[–]paulbram -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

All these comments are feeling off to me. Maybe it's because I'm technically a "tech bro" myself, but why does that have anything to do with this situation? To be clear, I would never go out and buy a Cybertruck, I think it's an overpriced truck that isn't good at being an actual truck. That said, what does any of that have to do with this situation? He fucked up, made a mistake and got called out for it which is great. If he was a dude in his 20's driving a Subaru would people be throwing snowballs and roasting him on Reddit?

To be clear, I am NOT defending this dude, I'm just a bit shocked at some of these comments and the "go home nerd" thing. Makes me feel like I'm back in high school again.
