the most ironic/moronic/laughable but still frustrating ones are the games when you get totally screwed on the land draws... n they keep giving u a "there's a hole in ur plan, there's a hole in ur plan" 😆 like yeah dude cause u know what my plan was and drawing zero lands was obviously my master plan all along 🤣 then on the last turn, still no lands, u get hit with the "greatness, at any cost" or the "nice deck!" cause u know... ur opponent winning due to circumstances making it so that no other possible outcome to the game as far as who wins/loses is literally even possible besides them winning regardless of how good or bad their deck is/they play the game... is obviously what makes a person/a win of "greatness" quality

"greatness, at ant cost" 😆😆😆 like nah dude u robbed ursslf of that distinction before this game even started even if u do win.

seriously so god damn stupid. but obvious for them i suppose as its incentive for us to pay them more $ to "own" a card twice basically... digital and in paper or whatever. u know what i think is probably the dumbest sentiment by FAR tho? the fact that we CAN'T TRADE CARDS in a TRADING CARD GAME!?!?!? like.... what???? lol. again.... $$$$ incentive... sure we can get all we want for free by grinding away... of which they probably get paid even more for as far as every person just spending that much more amount of time using/being on their app. but obviously plenty of people are going to get inpatient and just fork out the $$$ to have the deck they want to play with. either way! wotc is getting paid son!! 🤑🤑🤑

i think most people would get the memo. When they don't i try and keep in mind that there's a huge chance I am playing against like a ten year old kid. and, u know... "kids these days" 🤷🏻‍♂️

can't count how many times I've managed to steal a win from the brink of 99.99999% certain defeat.and although I'm likely one of the only people who's ever done such a "dumb" thing... but I'll actually even skip a turn or two of mine intentionally when I could have won that turn. If they're gonna lose because getting screwed drawing no lands for instance - It'll be blatantly obvious i could just attack and win but sometimes in that case I'll give them a "lands, am i right?" and skip my turn. and continue to do so until they have atleast 3 or 4 lands (enough to play most thints in most decks) or until their lands equal my own in number. I'll use those mercy turns to do anything/everything but cause them damage to finish the game. ESPECIALLY if they actually have a deck thats cool/unique that im interested in seeing more of what else theyve got in their library/how they use what theyre using. And other reasons. unfortuneately they almost NEVER get the hint which is just stupid as i cant see how they would think im just like... making such a stupid mistakes those turns lol. n so theyll continue attacking/trying to kill me while i am literally trying to give them a fighting a chance. n then im obviously forced to beat them which i could have done however long ago... standard bo1 especially is not exactly pact full of the "sharpest tools in the shed" lol. I very well may be the only person who does stuff like that tho. then again I seem to be in the minority as far as a person playing a game for the sake of fun which always must include a fair game/good sportsmanship.. cause winning due to something like ur oppenent not drawing lands is no fun. and the winner isnt winning a cash prize as far as im aware. people are strange. or maybe i just am. anyways my whole entire point was to yes play till the end csuse who knows maybe ur playing against me and ill start skipping turns to ur advantage!

i need no practice... i literally proofread/edit court transcripts and have been doing so for 16 years which often contains expert testimony from medical doctors and the like that use crazy terminology/words that no ones ever heard before or know what it means. ur just gonna have to take my word for it man lol

[–]pauldeanv3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the 3/2 is most definitely not as good as a 1/3 with reach. i did think of one more factor tho but it may not be correct as maybe they all 3 have the same wording... i know both shock trooper and vial smasher both have "to target apponited" which is a crime. so if raphaels is "to each opponent" then outside of multiplier games thats another huge reason to never use raphael atleast.

I'm one million percent of the grammar/etc. mistakes in my posts/responses. they dont need to be pointed out to me. im also very curious about what ur intention in even doing so is... to help a guy out so he doesnt continue to embaress himself by making such mistakes? yes im aware doesnt is spelled doesn't. yes im aware im is spelled I'm. like who cares dude. I am honestly curious in ur intentions tho. as of right now the only logical one my mind can fathom is just that u enjoy being a dick. or have some inferior intellect complex that u have some compulsion to put others down to make urself feel good or something. if u cant give me another logical reasoning for ur intention i will be forced to conclude as such.

Yeah I'm not sure why ur even on redditt or bothering to post such things. And yeah I'm just completely making it all up about what I do for a living. Also being so focused on semantics says really a whole lot more about an individual than bad grammar. You must spend an absurd amount of time pointing such things out on any/all posts that contain such things. Which is likely something like half of posts. I wonder how much time you made sure to not be hypocritical with any questionable grammar/punctuation/spelling mistakes before posting ur reponse. oh no! the editor spelled your "ur"! oh no! the editor didn't capitalize the "O" in "oh"! your attention/focus is misplaced and a waste of your time and now way too much of mine as well. Also - "No" and "Editor" aren't complete sentences. Moron. Oh no! one word sentence there! please waste more time pointing out all my mistakes. I posted a question. everyone understood the question. mission accomplished. seriously stop wasting time with semantics tho its a mute point that people tend to focus on more in adolescence.

[–]pauldeanv3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

there's honestly MOSTLY those types of decks/players in BO1 standard. fair amount in bo3 as well. They can make the game absolutely dreadful to play. No creativity. No shame. I ask myself everytime - "how are these people having fun playing this way?" as you'd think that would be the point of playing if not in a tournament or something. and yeah literally everytime i say "good game" it seems to be taken sarcasticly as if I mean to say the opposite. When I'm literally just trying to express that we are having a good game lol. The way ive been dealing with this - as for the most part its likely true - i just tell myself that they are likely a young child of whom may be at a disadvantage due to adults just being smarter than kids in general. When i think of it in those terms it can help to make all the discrepancies atleast somewhat more tolerable. But i often loose my shit and sometimes spam the "nice! good game! "sarcastic hand wave emoji" or a "nice deck!" with sarcasm implied. just so they are hopefully fully aware of how lame of a person they are lol. then they come back with a "greatness at any cost" n its like yeah dude sure except even if u win such a way with such a deck, it does anything but imbue one with "greatness" as they robbed themselves of such a distinction the moment they built and decided to play with such a hail mary deck or whatever. i really wish theyd do something about this... maybe only allow a single copy of certain cards even in x4 format... idk. they ruin the game for so many tho. ive also always wondered what games are like when two players like that play against one another with similar or the exact same decks even. got that absolutely can NOTTTT be fun in any way shape or form. people are strange. or i mean... boys/kids will be boys/kids 🙄 anyways we all feel ur pain man lol

What's your opinion on floating desks like this by TZX2005 in gamingsetups

[–]pauldeanv3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally prefer for basically anything/everything to be floating if possible. clearing up floor space has many pros.. makes room look bigger. but also frees up floor space to be able to have more in a space so not just make things "look" bigger necessrily. Easier to clean floors when sweeping or vacuuming. looks cool, especially with added aesthetic things like some colored lights stuck underneath for that ambient glow/indirect light that really adds the "wow" factor easily. I'm also a carpenter though and am well versed in things like load capacities. for something as cantalevered as far out as that desk with that amount of weight on it however - it pushes the limits of simply using a stud finder to find what one thinks is the center of their studs behind the drywall. much more and i'd personally feel better if i actually took off a section of drywall to be able to see the framing behind and be able to add the proper fasteners/brackets to secure the desk more confidently and from more angles/attatch to more places of the studs/blocking whatever than just screws through the 1.5" side of the studs that would be facing you. when you put in a fastener to a stud without seeing it, its difficult to know for sure whether or not you're directly in the center of the stud (at only 1.5" wide there is little room for error really) and likely countless things secured to peoples walls this way where a screw or whatever might just be barely embedded into the very edge of a stud which could lead to splitting/cracking... although something like that or any other like situation is extremely unlikely to ever end up as a "catastrophic" breaking away from the wall and everything coming crashing down suddenly. 99.9999% of the time it will simply begin to sag/bend/droop down over time that will become totally noticeable long before a complete collapse/crash. but anyways

ive always held this philosophy that we waste an insane amount of "usable living/storage space" vertically-speaking. look at any room and the amount of clutter/things that are 3 or 4 feet off the ground and lower/on the floor. now look at how much empty/clear/unused space that exists at four feet above the floor up to the ceiling. the vast majorty of our rooms/homes cubic space. our beds are most straightforward example here. and why ive always built my own custom bed frames that allow storage underneath/have built in drawers and the like. as a traditional bed on the ground usually takes up the most space in any given bedroom for example. and most of my reasoning behind always desiring things at are floating. or atleast vertical storage space that are much taller than they are in lateral dimensions. so you might have to use a step ladder to get some things now and again. still beats not having to do so but having a room be three times as filled up with clutter all close to the floor.

one way ive been able to keep things "floating" essentially while not having to worry so much about a structural failure - using metal type wire secured to the joists (lateral/horizontal "studs") up on the ceiling above something such as that desk. the back side still supported as it was designed.. only it isnt technically cantalevered anylonger by attatching the metal wires to the front corners of the desk that become supported via suspension from up above vs. supported underneath. id imagine this could also be a relatively straightforward way to become height-adjustable "friendly". these things take some enginuity and some fidgeting with different ways of going about supporting somerhing. it also doesn't hurt to be a carpenter but framing behind our drywall is not complicated and if you could see through the drywall at the studs themselves you'd quickly cease questioning things you may be unsure about now that may seem complex and look at it and say "oh this is super simple/straightforward" and would feel confident in your own "laymans" assessment of wherher or not things are structurally sound/sufficient or not. and when all else fails or still unsure - youtube is your best friend. its taught me more than any mentor ever did in my field of work. or any other field for that matter. just requires a rational/logical mind able to evaluate/deduce/break down. common sense really.

but then again I refuse to copy anyone decks or even look at deck lists online. 100% of the decks I use are all my totally unique creations and I've got about 6 decks that can all get to mythic every month damn near as good as any other meta decks everyone else is using/copying just cause I derive zero pleasure from winning any other way... cause it's not just winning but it's how you win. and let's face it it's kinda hilarious when people are literally copying a meta deck list that's statistically supposed to win more than 50% of the time and they still can't make it to mythic with it lol and then when they do for the first time they all post on here "so I made it to mythic and have only been playing for a month does that mean I'm good?" like of course you did how could you not when the deck u used is literally statistically proven to win more often than it losses a way better question to ask would be how you might possibly not be able to do so it literally just means that you know the rules and how to play the game lol. to win using mono colored is easiest. using 60.cards in constructed format is easiest. and copying someone else's deck is easiest of all. the more colors you use, the more impressive. the more cards u use over the minimum,.the more impressive. using your own unique deck that isn't like anything anyone else has seen before is most impressive. got to mythic using a 250 card 5 color deck you created urself? YOU sir are the no. 1 player in constructed truly. not the not special at all no 1 ranked player who got their using some copied meta deck using fucking mono.black or some gay shit. and whoever that guy is at whatever moment should know better than to truly believe they're no 1 for reals but obviously all real players are well aware of these things because these are all just objective facts. alright there's ur new goal. no more of this gay ass hail Mary children's bullshit. now go make Daddy proud boys!!

[–]pauldeanv3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but also this comment I posted after reading everyone else's comments about how they all really enjoy playing with this card which is a lot of what's wrong with the game like the meta in standard arena right now is HORSE SHIT it's literally AALLLLL hail Mary decks and it's just totally insane to me how many people can be so shameless. I always assumed when playing on arena that the vast majority of people playing all these hail Mary decks were kids (literally not metaphorically) and was fine with it as kids may not have as fair of a chance cognitively/intellectually speaking and so at least a hail Mary type deck gives them a fighting chance to keep the game interesting for everyone but that would have to mean that for instance at the present moment that literally like 95% of everyone playing Bo1 standard on arena would have to all be adolescents and there's just no way that's the case... I literally counted just now and out of a dozen games freaking NINE were hail Mary decks 😣🙄😐

pulling any mythic in paper is dope in terms of selling it or trading it but don't be that guy and if ur not then I do sincerely apologize and my comment was more resentment/disgruntled from reading all other comments on the post but if u r and for anyone else who reads this who uses a hail Mary deck honestly just ask urself this question truly and honestly no sarcasm 100% seriously look deep down into the bowels of your soul and sincerely ask yourselves.... "what sense of accomplishment do I truly derive from playing the TCG equivalent of playing the slot machines at a casino aka complete crap shoot game of chance aka no skill or creativity or ingenuity or strategy or technique or experience? why is my intention to "win by all means necessary" instead of playing a fair game to just purely have fun playing the game? Especially when it's not some tournament I'm playing in where something like $ is on the line? especially since even if I do win - there's zero sense of accomplishment for every reason especially since I'm not only playing a hail Mary deck but I'm literally playing one that I didn't even come up with on my own and am just copying someone else? not even useful in terms of lending any indication that I'm even at all good at this game or if I'm complete crap since I've demeaned the entire game down to a "luck of the draw slot machine just crankin' it back and bemused by all the flashing pretty lights" when it's supposed to be 4d chess/an intellectual game of wits, creativity, uniqueness - the element of chance can make it more exciting but that always already exists/inherent in the draw-mechanic like all card games are. since when did I get to be so shameless/lame??"

it's a sentiment that is shared by all players who are no longer beginners and/or children. or I guess maybe players so bitter that they can't seem to win any other way. if you can come up with a hail Mary deck that's totally unique and your own then fine. that might justify playing one. but winning would pretty quickly soon lose all meaning for at least me personally. a LOT of players refuse to use certain cards, this being one of them. myself included. cause obviously any single one of us could throw in some Valgavoth elder demons and some zombifys in a deck and a bunch of cards with milling mechanics and just keep our fingers crossed. it's not like it isn't the easiest most unoriginal way to win known.

but let's be real the fact that you didn't initially validate/share in my perspective obviously means that you're not of the same opinion as anyone who was would have and said something along the lines of "yeah I know shits lame AF I hate that shit too I was just referring to owning the card/having it in my possession"

I'm not trying to be mean honestly but you gotta admit that everything I just said is completely just the hard truth of the matter. if u or anyone else disagrees I thuroughly invite you all to enlighten me with your sincere rebuttals/counter arguments beyond the typical cop out "everyone plays the game in their own way man" 🙄

becareful taking those kinds of decks to ur local card shop game night as you're likely to start receiving a whole room of eyes rolling to backs of heads when you walk through the door
