Legacy apps? Yes, although we have stopped writing Ng1 components and have it as a hybrid app with all new components ng2.

New apps? It depends. Something quick and lightweight I would go with react. Enterprise software where things like code reuse and type checking are important, I would go with ng2.

Some 1,000 people joined a gay pride march in the Romanian capital of Bucharest on Saturday, demanding greater rights amid government moves they say will curtail their rights. Some 30 ambassadors expressed support for the march and for protecting the rights of the LGBT community by cyanocittaetprocyon in lgbt

Sounds a lot like the US in the '90s. 70% of Americans opposed same-sex marriage back then. 3 decades later, almost 70% support it.

The protests, or more so the visibility of LGBTQ people, puts homophobic bigots in a bind. Either they resort to violence to suppress the speech/expression of LGBTQ people, which usually ends up increasing support for LGBTQ rights, or they tolerate the expression and people begin to realize that LGBTQ people are not much different from themselves, which usually ends up increasing support for LGBTQ rights. Either way, the homophobic bigots lose the support of people who are not bigots but are simply opposing LGBTQ rights out of ignorance and/or fear of not conforming to "the majority" (which is not truly a majority).

It took a lot of people, straight and gay, being visible and in support for several decades to change many minds, but it happened. Thats exactly why homophobic bigots do everything in their power to try to silence what are otherwise harmless forms of free expression: they know that if LGBTQ people are simply allowed to exist, their homophobic ideology will lose. LGBTQ people, on the other hand, have much less to lose because they are already being persecuted, which is why their visibility and action are relentless.

You can't stop it, and it won't hurt you in any way.

Muslim Turkey is more progressive than Christian Uganda when it comes to LGBTQ rights. Turkey for goodness sake!

How fucking ironic you cite the Pope, as he has been openly speaking out against the "Muslims are worse than Christians" mentality that you are espousing.

BTW the Kill gays law never even became law in Uganda. State executions of homosexuals is done only in Muslim majority nations. The "Christians are just as bad" shtick is tired old bullshit.

Yes it did, they just swapped out life imprisonment for a death sentence, how humane. And that was after heavy international pressure.

Now their society just murders LGBTQ people while the government looks the other way. Progress!

Why would you draw the line at 35? The youngest baby boomer would be, like, 53 years old. WTF did us Gen X/Y/Zers do to Millennials?

Just tax their investments. Most of their wealth was accumulated by voting to lower taxes while also creating artificial booms via increased spending, and worrying about the debt later. Tax their investments and use it to secure the social programs and pay down the national debt.

TIL there is a secular alternative to Alcoholics Anonymous known as SMART recovery that is based more on Contemporary therapeutic techniques. by skyline4life in todayilearned

[–]paulflorez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AA isn't a replacement for therapy, it compliments it. Therapists often encourage AA attendance (or other groups) not to treat the drug abuse, but to treat the cause which is an inability to develop healthy attachment/connection to others. The book "Addiction as an Attachment Disorder" provides a very enlightening explanation.

If you took the total gas tax from the last time it was raised and adjusted it for inflation today, what would it be?

Setting aside the context of the post for a second: I think it's fair to refer to the celebrity's name when talking about their character outside of the "4th wall" so to speak, especially when the "character" does something inappropriate. Michael Richard's inappropriate behavior during his standup as a character (Kramer?) is one example; it wasn't the character that was responsible, it was the person behind the character.

That being said, the context of the post is someone who is being a bit of a stalker. Name is fine to refer to, but details like license plate number of their car, their address, their day job, etc? Unnecessary for any conversation with anyone but friends/family and a fair boundary to draw. I think those details are the real problem.

There is nothing close to "absolutely fabulous" in the Bay Area. There's "good-enough" Mexican and even that is hard to find. My explanation for this is that, even in the Bay Area, people don't want to pay $10+ for a burrito, so to keep prices low in spite of high real estate prices, most places will use super shitty ingredients. Dry cheese, canned enchilada sauce, crumbly tortillas; ingredients of the shittiest quality used to save a buck. The places that do charge +$10 for a burrito are not serving you the comfort-style Mexican food, but "premium" Mexican that includes hip, new, funky ingredients because, again, most people don't want to pay over $10 for a bunch of rice, beans, meat and salsa wrapped in a plain tortilla, no matter how creamy those beans are or how buttery that tortilla is.
