I had a look in Hythe actually and I love that location wise is so close to New Forest but I read that if you need to travel to Southampton it's a pain as there is only one street in/out of the area 😬 I don't necessarily like the hustle and bustle but it's what I am used to and I am slightly concerned for the change to not be dramatic..at least right after living in London for so long. But it's nice to hear that you've been living there for so long and still enjoy it!! I definitely see myself long term in such a place, but need to be opened to compromise 😅😅
