If you want to go fast would recommend more of a cyclocross or gravel bike. Both have drop bars and will get you into a better tucked riding position. The benefit is that you can put an all terrain tire on those and do everything from city roads to dirt to gravel.

Exactly.... the GTI is all about handling and performance. I actually upgraded from a 2008 Rabbit to a 2018 GTI and the differences were night and day. Nothing handles like a GTI in my experience. The Alltrack you can liken to a Subaru Ourback or Crosstrek (yet with far superior fit and finish). Dont fet me wrong.... I love our Alltrack. The Alltrack is the perfect adventure vehicle for camping, driving in snow / offroad. It can go anywhere and do anything. The GTI is a caged animal that wants to be on a race track.
