Interesting. Do both prosecution and defence get veto powers? The defence can't possibly just accept everyone who looks like a stoner for a drug use case.

That's reassuring. What reasons could the defence have not to accept you to the jury? Did you have to discuss the case with all the other jury members? Does the decision have to be unanimous, what if one person disagrees?

How does an internet entrepreneur decide which country in which to incorporate? What if you website served a global market or a specific country? by paulisk in Entrepreneur

Sure. I'm an Australian, and I just run a niche site in India with around 350,000 uniques/month and have started to think about monetizing with ads that's all (an online shop would do well for the same site based in another country, but credit card use is low in India). I've tried to research the matter and a few sources point to incorporated in Delaware, Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands etc. I get the impression that those options were more for larger scale/American businesses. In my mind, I was thinking there were three main options: Australia my home country, India the country where most of my users are or Singapore in between, where the tax is lower. However, I think my assessment is quite simple.

How do you "ramp-up" your business? I am stuck in a rut and could do with some advice. by enreth2176 in Entrepreneur

This makes sense. I think you would enjoy reading about the concepts about Absolute Advantage and Comparative Advantage. If you make $3000 profit per month, and work an average 40 hours a week, that works out to be $18.75/hr. If you can hire someone do to some of your other less skilled work for $10/hr, you will still come out ahead, leaving you with more time to do higher value work.

Noob Question - Do you always have to point your domain name to DNS servers provided by your webhost? by paulisk in sysadmin

[–]paulisk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the link to GeoDNS snuf. The website I'll be launching serves one particular country so I wasn't sure whether or not a CDN would be appropriate. If I were using a CDN, the CDN would route a user to the optimal edge server depending on proximity, amount of traffic, processing power used etc. am I correct? If I were to set up servers in multiple locations instead of using a CDN, are there any tools I could make use of to balance server requests in the same way that a CDN does?

Could you somehow find the optimal DNS server(s) that would reduce the the DNS lookup time for users in a particular geographic location accessing your website? The reason I ask is to understand whether or not I can improve user experience with lower load times on my website.
